Default Daily Dingfoddities

His drug addiction, a federal drug case, and the associated negative publicity weren't enough to get Roanoke, Virginia meteorologist Jamey Singleton off the air, but one naked picture on My Space was. Singleton was fired from WSLS Channel 10 for violating the morals clause in his contract, which specifies that he will not be involved in anything deemed "offensive or out of line with community standards."

A friend snapped the digital picture as a prank when Singleton was getting dressed for work. He said that he didn't think it would end up on the internet and be the source of controversy and unemployment. He declined to identify the friend. My Space removed the picture within an hour of being notified of the unauthorized photo.

Singleton says he will not let this lead to a drug relapse. He hopes get a job soon, but says he will never stop believing he'll make it back on television as a meteorologist some day.
Jamey SingletonIn the next few weeks, if I'm not working at a TV station, if I'm not working in weather, I'm still going to be tracking weather.

So am I, Jamey.

That's kinda sucky if he neither took the picture, nor gave consent to have it taken, nor posted it himself. I wonder if it's immoral to fart on TV? I hope she didn't get fired. While I was looking for that, I first checked Google videos and found this one.

Clearly he just needs to get a job in a more immoral community. There'd be a bidding war in LA.

Slovenian President, Janez Drnovsek has abandoned the Presidential Palace for a small hut. After being diagnosed with cancer Drnovsek has moved out of the capitol city of Ljubljana, to the village of Zaplana, where he lives alone with his dog on a vegan diet of organic fruit and vegetables, and his own baked bread.

He even has been known to "greet the trees" by dressing up in cloaks of leaves. For this and other reasons, even though his political party advocates healthy living for children and animals, for some, Drnovsek is a bit too esoteric.

Mr. Drnovsek appealed to his countrymen to join him in adopting a simpler life. Mr. Drnovsek is the head of state in Slovenia, but the day-to-day business of the country is run by Prime Minister Janez Jansa.

Man takes picture of himself every day and posts it on You Tube.

Quite entertaining, different than most of this genre.

Zombie chickens was the first thought of Jim Stauffer of Petaluma, California when he saw chickens emerging from the compost pile.

Apparently, it is common industry practice to euthanize chickens using carbon monoxide gas after they've quit producing eggs. Their newly dead carcasses were then placed in the compost pile. They weren't quite dead, woke up and made their way out from under the stinky heap. The usual survival rate is 2 out of about 40,000 chickens gassed, but in the incident witnessed by Stauffer, two dozen emerged from the compost alive, zombie chickens.

Police in Atlanta shoot and kill a 92 year old woman in her home, but not before she shot and wounded three policemen as they broke through her front door. Police had a search warrant, saying they had made a drug buy at the house. They say they announced themselves before breaking through the door, but Kathryn Johnson let 'em have it with her own handgun. It was reported that "suspected narcotics" were found during a search Mrs. Johnson's home.

Let's review:
1. She lived in a bad neighborhood.
2. A 72 year old neighbor had been recently raped.
3. Someone's breaking through her door.

What would a reasonable person do in her place?

Tightwad bank will close it's doors next year. The only bank in Tightwad, Missouri, currently owned by UMB Bank Warwaw is being closed as a cost cutting measure. At one time the tiny bank had $2.2 million on deposit, mainly because of it's name, Tightwad Bank. Well, who wouldn't want that on their checks?

Turkeys wait for a train to take them out of town, way out of town.

New Jersy Transit security camera spotted a flock of wild turkeys on the loading dock at Ramsey, New York.

I'd read 2 of the last 4 articles you posted here, in the local newspaper. I hadn't seen the ones on Tightwad and the chickens.

The turkeys article was hilarious.

But, I'm telling you right now, Mr. Dingfod, you have unearthed in me a fear I didn't know I had. Zombie chickens? For some reason, that really freaks me out. I haven't even clicked on the link, because just the thought of chickens bubling up from a pile of dead chickens...oh man, make it stop!!

I'm serious, that is giving me the willies!!!

Utah authorities looking for a missing couple that fell out of their aluminum boat in Strawberry Reservoir last month, find more bodies than an average week of CSI episodes. They've found a total of six bodies in the cold depths of the 7600 foot elevation lake using sophisticated sonar. They thought they had found one of their targets when they found a fisherman that drowned in 2001 followed by finding two of three missing in 1995 before finding Stephen and Catheryne Roundy. Encouraged by the results they searched on and found the third 1995 victim.

I wonder if they could find my watch that I lost at Boy Scout camp?

Did you follow the "Bok-bok!" link? It goes to an IMDB page about the 2006 movie Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead.

La-Z-Boy saves man's life.

Norman Kamp's wife Jan had quite enough of Norman and decided she'd be better off with him dead. She shot him through the back of his La-Z-Boy recliner. The cushy chair absorbed most of the bullets energy, leaving Norman virtually unscathed. He got up and followed her into the kitchen saying "You shot me!" She shot at him again and missed so he retreated to a neighbors, where he called 911. Jan went to jail, Norman was treated and released from a local hospital.

Criminals are not normally rocket scientists.

Masked robber at gas station: Stick 'em up!

Uniformed cop in line at same: No, you stick 'em up!

Derek Pierson Jr. didn't notice the uniformed police office, a member of Shreveport's Armed Robbery Task Force, standing in line when he tried to hold up the gas station. It was then pointed out to him and he surrendered his weapon.

Beer 101

Students in credit class in the hospitality and restaurant management program at Metropolitan State College in Denver can take a for credit course in the art of beer.

school admin Michael WrayWe treat it just like an art and a science.

The Sandlot Brewery at Coors Stadium, home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team, is their classroom, and it's brewmasters are their teachers.

student Eric RiveraBeer is homework, what better homework is there?

I'll drink to that.

Seatbelts save lives.

Two young women, arguing over whether or not to wear seatbelts, took their fight outside, outside the car they had been in. While fighting in the street, both were run and killed over by a hit-and-run driver. Surviving was a third young woman still in the car.

I bet she had her seatbelt on.
