Question I switched to Firefox....what now?

I've decided to take my first step away from the Microsoft juggernaut and have installed Firefox on my home and work computers. I've read in another post here that I should be using the No-Scripts extension so it's installed, but I don't know why. Should I never allow scripts, or are they okay for sites that I trust? Also, are there any other Firefox tips that I should know?

CTRL + T = open new tab.

I love that trick.

The only extension I use is Tab Mix Plus - still handy even though I'm using FF 2.0 RC3 now.

Oooh, I might have to switch to that, vm. I've been using Duplicate Tab, but it looks like Tab Mix might have some extra goodies.

I'm also using Paste and Go, which mimics Opera's 'paste and go' feature when you right click in the address bar, TinyURL Creator, which generates tiny url's without having to manually leave the page you're on and browse to tinyurl.com, IE Tab, which instantiates IE in a Firefox tab (haven't tested this with IE 7 yet), which is handy for those nonstandard pages that only work in IE (of which my employer has many... :tmangry1: ), and Google browser sync, which is handy for keeping my bookmarks sycned up between my work laptop and the two PC's I use at home.

I have AdBlock installed, based on rave reviews here at :ff: , but I find that I rarely use it, so I'm thinking about removing it.

JackDog, the key is to notice what features other browsers have that you wish Firefox had, or what tasks you find clunky while you're browsing and then go see if someone has an extension that addresses the problem. More than likely, someone does.

Allow scripts for trusted sites only.
Also, you might want to try these extensions:

Adblock and its sidekick Adblock Filterset.G Updater
StumbleUpon

I like having a button for 'Open New Tab'. One mouse click is all you need. Just do 'View' -> 'Toolbars' -> 'Customize...' and drag the 'new tab' button up top somewhere. I like mine next to 'Home'.

I've got Image Zoom, Dictionary Search, Web Search, Translator, Adblock, and probably a host of other functions that I've forgotten about.

I've only used IE in the past and I really haven't noticed any difference with FF.

That line is a mouse trail, but that's optional. With mouse gestures you can use your mouse alone to navigate or change things. For example (where NSEW = North, South, East, West) I only have to click and hold the right mouse button and flick the mouse W or E to go backward or forward a page in the browser, or NW and SE to increase or decrease the font size. Those settings are defaults, but you can configure many other actions too. I really only use the forward and backward for the most part, but often enough that I get really frustrated when I have to use a browser that doesn't have it.

I use the Opera extension. It really turns Firefox into a much better browser.

Okay, I downloaded Opera 9.02 to check it out.
