Realistically, late April and early May will be near the peak of the pandemic. Of course, you and the Mor-man may have already been infected and recovered by then - and therefore at no further risk.

When you're young and fit it should be no worse than a normal cold. The problem is that even when you do catch it and recover, you'll never be quite sure that it was COVID-19 - rather than some other bug - unless you get tested. And by the time most of us get it, the tests will be restricted to those who get severe symptoms and have to be hospitalized.

Still, if you get a fever and/or a cough, and recover after a few days WITHOUT having a runny nose, then most likely you have had COVID-19, and you'll then be able to enjoy your holiday without fear of infection - or fear of possibly infecting others.

So crazy, :kookoo:

Celebrity still has not canceled our cruise - although the Australian Officials say you have to self isolate for 14 days after arrival. How can one do that and sail?

I read something claiming that you don't build up immunity.

Coronavirus mutates rather quickly. It also is rather more than a bad cold for a lot of people. So I can see it being something you don't build immunity for and we run around (like the flu vaccine) trying to find the most current and popular takes for vaccines.

If it's true that you don't build lasting immunity by becoming infected with the virus, then that doesn't bode well for the production of a vaccine.

The UK Chief Medical Officer is saying that we probably do build lasting immunity when infected by the virus - but that just as with other viral diseases such as measles, there are rare instances of people being infected more than once. No one is sure yet: more research is needed - all we can do is hope for the best.

So as you may have guessed. We didn't go to the South Pacific :sadcheer:

Sucked so badly during the time period - like, oh we would have been at the airport now and oh we would have been in Bora Bora today, and oh we would have been at your birthday luau.

I was so relieved the day we arrived home virtually - thank dog our plane has landed and we are back. It really opened a way for us to move forward.

Similar to our vacation we didn't get to go on, by days 12-16 of our virtual vacation, I was like, "Man, if we were on our trip, I would be so ready to be home now!"

As you may recall  our cruise in the south pacific, followed by Waikiki was canceled.

Update
- Received 100% refund from cruise line
- Lost approx. 3500.00 to Virgin Australia :sadcheer:
- Received approx. 1600.00-ish future credit from United Airlines
- Received 100% Refund from Waikiki Hotel & Australian Hotel
- Lost like 80 bucks from some dumb Limo transfer company in Sydney

So we have thrown our hat into the ring again. No South Pacific this time, just Hawaiian Islands Cruise with 6 nights in Honolulu at the end.

Please wish us luck this time. I used the Credit on United but I am waiting on booking the post cruise hotel - mainly because they are like twice the price of 2020 and I don't want to get burned.

I fully expect this to happen to us :shakewave: :volcano: :shakevirus: :puke:

Wow on the $3.5K loss to Virgin Australia. Is there no hope of getting any of it back?

Good luck with the new cruise and Honolulu stay anyhow. I hope you both have a great time. :hula: :hi: :hula:

They went into receivership, with some protections brought in against us naive travelers who gave them our monies.

The are no longer flying internationally - just domestically within Australia, so future travel credit does not help us.
