Okay, I watched it now. What did I like?
I like how Peggy's and Joan's relationship has evolved, and both of their treatment of the new secretary. It seems like Peggy's all grown up, and she's got some respect from the queen bee.
I love Mr. and Mrs. Draper together. He seems genuine happy with her, and she's doing things that make her happy, so it would be cool if they could both be happy for a while before it all inevitably implodes on them.
How divine was her outfit for their Valentine's date? That pink dress with the fur coat. I almost plotzed.
So, any guesses on who the book was sent to? I imagine one of the ex-girlfriends.
ETA: I was disappointed about the lost year, but having watched this episode, I'm totally okay with it. I'm glad they skimmed over the last year of Peggy's life (the two-second recap was plenty for me), and the Drapers' relationship mend, and all that crap. It was nice to have a lot of the ugliness wrapped-up off-screen, and start the new season fresh and happy. The only thing is, I don't want them to completely fast-forward into the sixties. I'm not ready for long hair and beards and hippies and civil rights. I just want the precision haircuts and clothing styles and WASPish repression for another couple decades, okay?
Did you guys notice that Sal has a girlfriend? How cute is that?!
