Damn, y'all are WAY off the beaten path! First glance led me to believe that the current position is -/+ and rapidly heading for -+, but on further review it looks like Pan might just have a way out of this mess. One way or another, it's damned entertaining game. Fine work, gents.

In other chess related news, Bobby Fischer dropped dead yesterday. The guy was a racist lunatic, but no one's ever played better chess than he did from 1970-72.

Thanks. :D

I too think PN does have a way out of it, but it'll take accurate play to win or draw, but similar demands are made of me to win it (I think I would have an easier time playing for a draw).

I'm half tempted to sit down with you and a bag of popcorn to see how this one turns out.

I can't say I'm going to miss him. His racism and anti-Jewish bigotry just overwhelmed everything else for me. Normally when a great chess player goes, one feels sad that they won't be giving the world any more great games, but he hadn't played anything at all since the match with Spassky in 1992, and didn't play for 20 years before then, and by 1992 the effect of so much inactivity was showing in his chess.

I much prefer my chess players noble and humanitarian, like Emanuel Lasker.

I agree. I won't miss Fischer the man at all. This small twinge of ambivalence stems from of a feeling that I "owe" the guy, for lack of a better word. I had quite a bit of fun with chess over thirty or so years, and Fischer's run for the title in the early 70s is what got me interested in the game.

Cool! Lasker's my choice for all-time best. One of the benefits of that viewpoint was the apoplexy it caused among Fischer and Kasparov devotees. :D

I'm glad you like our game, Stephen. A game of chess is nice, but having people watch is even better. I was afraid I was hopelessly outclassed by Nullifidian (oh, who am I kidding; I still am), but I think I can at least make this interesting :snowball:

Don't count yourself out yet. There are still possibilities. :)

I'm not counting anybody out. But still I think it's safer to hide behind my underlings :peek:
