Actually, most of North America has proper high-amp 240V wiring and sockets in their homes! But the plug is so absurdly huge(even rivalling yours) we don't use it for anything but the largest stationary appliances, like ovens, battleships, and AK-47's.

Just had conversation with a British couple who have a holiday home near us. They voted for Brexit and have made no arrangements whatsoever for what happens on Jan 1. They have now discovered the reality of their situation.

I know a guy here whose business is providing foreign farm workers to companies for picking veggies/flowers/etc. He voted Brexit and it could literally ruin his business. But he's SURE the government wouldn't let that happen, it will all work out. My god there are some fucking dumb people here.
