Isolation diaries
My bosses have told me to not stand so close to them for a few weeks, so I have a few days of working remotely and then I have my week of holiday I had booked for going to the UK (not happening ). So, two weeks ahead of, well, being a Finn, I guess?
I thought it would be a good opportunity to collect people's logs for their possible isolation if they have that going on.
Day#1, 9 am:
I am running dangerously low on almonds. Also, my ladle broke.

Thanks, from:

Re: Isolation diaries
Day #1, 9.30 am:
My daughter got bored with remote school or has break and is loudly face timing her friends. Am now worried how the next weeks will go.
ETA, not facetime, Teams. Which apparently is "like, the best thing EVER!"

Day 1, 9:40 am:
My daughter got tired of me helping other people with their computer issues and went to her father's place while playing the audio of her music class on her headphones as she bikes.

Re: Isolation diaries
Day #830 approx (AJPWFH)
My efficient and comfortable setup that's been fine for years, using a remote control app to access my (tiny, cramped) work laptop from 3ft away using my large screen and large keyboard, has been broken. They have clearly decided to cash in on the remote working epidemic and lock out everyone trying to use it for free. Apparently neck and back health is not "personal use".
Now I have to look at other software options, other hardware options, and at a minimum moving cables around and retraining all my muscle memory.

I have moved cable from comfortable screen and wireless receiver from comfortable keyboard to the work laptop. I now have eye, neck and arm comfort. More technology still needed.

Re: Isolation diaries
Model flying fields have already been officially closed in Germany and the Netherlands, and I expect the UK will soon follow.
Because standing in the middle of a field, by yourself, flying a toy aeroplane, is clearly likely to transmit the coronavirus.
I would have thought that this activity, with certain sensible precautions: don't touch other modellers' planes, transmitters, or cars; don't stand close to any other modellers; don't touch gates directly - use a disposable tissue - would be one of the few activities that the authorities could leave alone.

Re: Isolation diaries
That does sound like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.
Maybe you could take a dog ... people will still have to walk dogs ... although dogs and RC planes / drones might not go well together.

Re: Isolation diaries
I walked about 6 blocks to Whole Foods to pick up some rations yesterday morning when there were very few other patrons, and I went for a walk on the nearby "hike-and-bike" trail at lunch time. With all the mania around "stay in your home!" I'm wary of going outside at all, but I really don't know how risky it is. The only exposure I can imagine is the building hallway/elevator on my way out and in, and then joggers running by me (one sneezed when she was about 15' in front of me and I wondered about floating particulates) but all-in-all that seems fairly low risk.

Re: Isolation diaries
My father has finally decided to install Netflix.
He lives on a small island off a slightly larger island. I am NOT going there as tech support.

Day 1, 16.15:
Still working despite my 8-16 shift. Brain clocked out about an hour ago.
There is chocolate on my thermometer. Confusion reigns.

This is the kind of insight into daily lives that historians looking back at 2020 will find invaluable.

Re: Isolation diaries
21.20, or 9.20 pm., day 1
Going to sleep, as nothing fun on and am too worked out to be creative or read. Might as well go to bed, as have been in pajamas all day.

Re: Isolation diaries
I've got the week off with the kids for March Break and my wife has been sent home to work for the next three weeks. The kids are off for two more weeks after MB has ended. I'm pretty bored. We are mostly staying home, with only me venturing out to grocery stores because i'm expendable. Next week I am back to work as i'm an essential service. Looking forward to a couple of weeks of easy commuting...

I don't know what's more terrifying, the coronavirus or that you are an essential service.
Haha sorry couldn't resist the low-hanging fruit. I don't mean it.

Re: Isolation diaries
Work a bit. Spray some things with bleach. Work a bit. Eat a bit. Walk the dogs. Maybe play a game or two. Have a nap.
I am working from home by general order, and have been self-isolating voluntarily since I got home from a 1-day DC trip last Friday (for stupid, utterly non-essential business travel). I am trying to be extra cautious because my partner's mom is medically vulnerable. At least as cautious as I can be in a 1050 sq ft 2br/1ba. I have no symptoms, other than the paranoia from a ticklish throat while dog walking because of the MASSIVE amount of pollen in the air. By this time tomorrow I will be past the mean and median incubation periods, so maybe I will start to become less neurotic.
My desk is terrible for working. My chair is uncomfortable. The office is small, and I am sleeping in the same room I am working in. The dogs are a little confused and adorably concerned. I have it very, very easy.
