Charlottetown Couple Start Married Life with Soccer-Themed Wedding
It isn't even as interesting as the woman in Manchester who made a wedding gown out of old City jerseys.

I've noticed that Guardian images never embed these days. I think it must be a deliberate policy. I can understand it. What I don't understand is why The Guardian is the only one* that deems it worth the effort.
* that I know of

Brought to my attention by Lunachick, may she rest in peace. Which is not very likely since she's on F*****k.
Video: Forklift joyrider filmed zooming down Auckland's Queen Street | 1 NEWS NOW | TVNZ
Quote:
The 17-year-old male allegedly stole the forklift from a construction site in central Auckland, before taking it the wrong way down Darby Street and on to Queen Street.
Police say he failed to stop for police on Queen Street and officers had to chase him on foot.
After the accused realised he was being chased, he allegedly swerved the forklift, trying to hit the police officers who jumped out of the way to avoid injury.

Re: Thread for the mysteriously newsworthy
This headline popped up and I was unable to ignore it.
The Economist explains: Why the pope has taken control of the Knights of Malta | The Economist
Quote:
Like countries, the Order has sovereignty (its knights having previously ruled Malta). Yet it no longer has territory beyond its headquarters on the fashionable Via Condotti in Rome. From there it dispatches ambassadors and issues stamps, coins and even its own licence plates. The only similar, sovereign entity with little or no territory is the Holy See. So Francis’s putsch is akin to the annexation of one state by another.

Quote:
A clash with Pope Francis, a champion of the poor and an adversary of privilege, was perhaps inevitable at some point.

BZZZZZAPP!
You're not allowed to mention Alex Jones without immediately identifying him as the man who sicced the Sandy Hook Truthers on the dead children's families. It's in there, but it's down too low.
Also, content warning for a picture of Jones' naked bosoms at the link.

How do you feel about those parents setting up donation web pages less than 24 hours from when their children supposedly died?
If you do think children died, then you have to accept the parents are shit fucks begging for money off of the death of their child as their first move.

Severed Goat Head in Cemetery Could Be Animal Sacrifice
So yes, I do understand why this is newsworthy, but
Quote:
Investigators got close to identifying at least one suspect from a court case in Adams County but in the end the evidence was circumstantial and no charges could be filed.
|
What would the charges be? Littering? Maybe intimidation or something? Certainly it isn't illegal to put a hex on someone, is it?
Also, the first reports of this just said that they found a severed goat head in the cemetery so they increased security for this one specific judge, and for some reason, it didn't even occur to me that there was anything with it that identified her, and it sounded like a really huge leap to me.

London-Paris electric flight 'in decade' - BBC News
In ten years? Requires a new sort of rechargeable battery to be invented in the next twelve months that has about ten times the energy density of any existing battery, so vanishingly unlikely.
The BBC never used to run ludicrous stories like this - except on April 1st - but Dave Lee (the reporter) is a credulous idiot, and his bosses are too stupid to know that he should be sacked.

It is a little sad to see the BBC resorting to the local news exigency of running a corporate press release as news. When I was working at a start-up, at least once a year or so, our name would come up on the local technology beat's cold call list, and the guy would come out and "interview" the C_O for a little while, and then go publish what amounted to our elevator speech. It was never news in any meaningful sense, but there was always a hope that we'd get some random business out of it. Oh, and we wound up on a whole bunch of marketing lists.

What I like the most about this is how it makes Broomfield sound like a remote village far from civilization. They traced the goat all the way from Fort Collins to Fort Lupton! Truly, Broomfield is at the center of a vast web of magickal forces.

Mercy, they do get up to the devil's work down in the big city, don't they? I kind of imagine the police trying to think of something to do and just going around to random Mexican grocery stores in Denver waving around pictures of a goat head until they found somebody with a sense of humor.
