It's a hoax perpetrated by the Yes Men, but the lulzy part isn't so much the hoax itself as the fact that some gun nuts with actual knowledge of the hoax are all like "Fuck yeah":

The funny thing is: it’s not funny. It’s the truth. American minorities are denied their natural, civil and Constitutionally protected rights, thanks to both gun control laws and economic circumstance.

It's pretty excellent, right on the line of Poe's law. While my hoaxy sense was tingling (based on gun laws) I still had to do a search to be certain. Given people like Ted "I'm crazy for murica!" Nugent has a line of freedom ammo, and some GOP raffles have given away AR-15 rifles, it's really not beyond the scope of likelihood.
Headline's a bit misleading, the panic was over a suspected imminent economic collapse of the United States. But no, the flatbeds full of UN armoured cars were made in the USA and being trucked to the port for shipping abroad.

64-year-old white dude brought his 14-year-old son (a fact that renders this story sick-making enough all by itself) to the World's Safest Shooting Range. Old dude fired his pistol at a target. The pistol ejected the spent cartridge, which bounced off a wall and ended up going down the back of old dude's shirt. While trying to extricate the hot cartridge, old dude inadvertently pulls the trigger again and offs his son.

I have an idea that doesn't involve blaming the innocent guns: perhaps those who are careless with guns and have accidentally shot people (or, in luckier cases, accidentally shot at people) should have their right to own guns limited, which may include the confiscation of their guns.
Simple enough. Somehow I think that many of those people would consider this to be blaming the guns though.
A previously responsible gun owner was irresponsible once and killed someone... which makes me totally trust all those responsible gun owners out there that want to open carry to their childs play recital or playground.
The occasional blood-soaked playground or recital hall is a small price to pay for freedom.

"defensible man-made and natural hazards,”
Haha! Exactly what 'natural hazards' are defensible by gun? I tripped over this tree root! Had I only had my trusty Ar-15 that root wouldn't be there! Omg I was hit by a boulder, but I wasn't carrying my shotgun with exploding shells, I blame you Obama!
I'm sure this will go great in bars, "I was injured in a bar fight, how dare you not let everyone carry a weapon! I'm suing!" Not dead patron.
Next night, "sure everyone got drunk and started shooting, but at least I can't be sued for banning guns!" Bar owner.
It's really telling that the only people who feel certain they are going to end up in a gun fight are the ones always carrying around guns.
If guns are not allowed, the odds of something happening that would result in someone getting shot or killed is probably less likely, and insurance rates should reflect that.

Yeah, but....I understand that so far this year, through June of 2016, more Americans have been killed by American toddlers than by Muslim terrorists.
So...When are we going to stop toddlers from entering this country? Shouldn't we be tracking all toddlers already in the country? Don't we need a 'toddler register'?
That happened in Manitoba. Doesn't count, same way that the US ones from Alaska don't count. If the back-country shitkicker factor is THAT intense, the NRA sort of has a point: gun's don't kill people. Morons do.
I know - I am from a place like that in the Netherlands. They can't have guns so they use air-rifles, motor-bikes and tractors to injure themselves in stead.
Of course, giving morons like that guns IS monumentally stupid.
“Americans are shot by toddlers at least once a week,” the one-minute video notes. We need to lock them up. Not the guns — that’s just un-American. Round them up. Deport them. Get them out of our country. And keep them away from guns.”
