If you zoom out to see the globe and put Antarctica in the center, it gives the illusion that it's moving.

It's much harder to find stuff on Venus landings, but I've found this:

I've also found something on the Huygens lander's location on Titan:

So it's incorrect to apply "cheeseheads", "flat and dull" and "why did they drain this bit" to the entire country? Well, I believe I've learnt something.

That light brown bit just next to the words "First to drown" looks like the lower peninsula of Michigan on its side.

The United States Geological Survey makes wonderful topographic maps on various scales. Those are cool enough, but Hubbard Scientific makes and sells 3-D raised relief versions of the USGS's 1:250,000 scale topographic maps.

Here, for example, is their raised relief map of the Knoxville, TN quadrangle.

For reference, the map is about 30 inches wide. The Knoxville quadrangle includes Great Smoky Mountains National Park and some of my favorite hiking & camping areas. I just ordered 4 of these maps (the Knoxville, Charlotte, Johnson City, and Winston-Salem quadrangles). These 4 maps cover the entirety of GSMNP, as well as a large portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway, plus other interesting areas, such as several of my favorite State Parks and National Forests.

Ultimately, I plan to connect the 4 maps and mount them on my office wall. I think it'll look fantastic.

Several of the cartoons feature what are unmistakably Saguaro Cactus (Carnegiea gigantea), which are native to the Sonoran Desert. That would place the cartoons in Southern Arizona, the Mexican state of Sonora, or extreme southeastern California.

That having been said, from what I recall, the landscapes in some of the cartoons seemed to resemble the Arches region of Utah more than the Sonoran or Mojave regions.

Of course, whatever bird that is that Wile E. Coyote is chasing, it looks nothing like an actual Roadrunner. (Fun fact: the ground speed of a Greater Roadrunner tops out at about 20 mph; a Coyote can run at over 40 mph.)

I always thought the scenery looked like Monument Valley which is on the Arizona/Utah border.

Road Runner is named as 'Texas Road Burner' in one of the cartoons, but I don't recall ever seeing any mention of where Wile E came from.

 yeah, I've seen a greater roadrunner. I was actually rather disappointed as a kid. Then I heard that those bastards can (and frequently DO) kill rattlesnakes, which is cool as hell.
