Re: Miscellany
So I'm talking to my brother this morning (the little babby brother, for all those of you who are keeping careful track of the brother distinctions), and at one point, I asked him if he noticed how often Slavoj Zizek touches his nose while he's talking, and he said, "How would you think I WOULDN'T notice that?" No kidding. I've known this guy his whole life, there was a brief flash of anger there. Umbrage. It was short-lived, but the umbrage was palpable.
So one fact about my family is that we rarely get mad at each other. We have very civil disagreements sometimes, but we almost never even raise our voices with each other, and whatever disagreements we have are usually resolved quickly and painlessly.
And it pains me to do this, but I think this should be the source of a bitter, longstanding family rift. We should stop speaking to each other entirely, and force the rest of our family to choose sides. My babby brother and I should now become sworn enemies because I asked him if he had noticed that Slavoj Zizek touches his nose a lot, as though I couldn't even afford him the common decency to assume that he was something more than a senseless baboon.

Re: Miscellany
Because no one is going to ask the important questions: Just how tiny is your little babby brother?

Re: Miscellany
He is a tiny and fragile little babby. He is exactly as old as man going to the moon is how small and tiny of a newborn babby he is.
Ha ha, I hit random twice and got both times because the smileys are like, "Oh, yeah, we know that guy. Here is a picture of him."

Holy mackerel, this might be the sickest burn I've ever seen.
Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Biblio-bully | PassiveAggressiveNotes.com
I don't read that site very often. (In fact, I'd forgotten it existed until a minute ago.) Are the commenters usually that defensive about stuff, or was that burn just so sick it got their guards down?
PS I attribute all library related events to Janet. I assumed you had nicer handwriting than that, though, Janet.

Re: Miscellany
And, as an extra bonus, we have a rebinding fail, too.

Re: Miscellany
Do we have a thread on Baltimore anywhere? I don't remember one and I don't think I should steal the Ferguson one.
So here's a fantastic interview with David Simon on what when wrong in Baltimore that let up to what we're seeing now.

Re: Miscellany
We don't have a special thrad for that. I'm too sad and angry about the whole deal to say much about it. It wasn't hard to guess that the problem(s) in Baltimore were far deeper than just that one incident. After reading just part of that article I'm even more sad and angry because I didn't know it was that horrible there.

Re: Miscellany
A lot of the people I worked with in the Air Force had previously worked in Maryland at some point in their careers and it was a known thing that Baltimore cops are out of fucking control. I don't know how bad it has to get before even military-types quit having the backs of their "brothers" but apparently it was that bad in Baltimore a decade ago, and many years before and since. too sad
