Band is from the US, the singer Cambodian and I've had the disease they named the band after.
Chris Porter may like this, it's like older surf music.
Introducing - Dengue Fever.

I just got a message saying that they were sorry, but the video is no longer available, Qingdai. I thinks you broke it, and I might have to tell on you. :sadcheer:

Although I would like to take credit for breaking YouTube,...
If you click on the title it will take you to YouTube and it still plays, some of the videos don't allow for embedding.

I liked the Pacific State video you linked.

Cool! Dig that bass.

Zoe has a friend from Cambodia who goes to her school. They've known each other since Phearet (?sp) first came to NZ back in primary school and couldn't speak a word of english. Now you can't shut the girl up! Anyway, I will send this to her so she can show her mother. :)

It is good, and very ... 70ish to me-like a Bond movie, perhaps. I like listening to different languages singing, especially new instruments, or scales i don't understand. I recall reading about someone playing a European orchestral arrangement recording to some South American indians that had never heard its like before. The tribesman listened carefully and seriously, and then declared it was some type of language. That has stuck with me for years, as a type profoundness that recognized music as having the patterns of language-even if there are no words.

Or vice versa even:
Quote:
Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today, madam,
Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today.
She is sorry to be delayed,
but last evening down in Lover's Lane she strayed, madam,
Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today.

When she woke up and found that her dream of love was gone, madam,
She ran to the man who had led her so far astray,
And from under her velvet gown,
She drew a gun and shot her love down, madam,
Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today.

When the mob came and got her and dragged her from the jail, madam,
They strung her upon the old willow across the way,
And the moment before she died,
She lifted up her lovely head and cried, madam......
Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today.

Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today

I don't recognize that song, when was it popular? I recall Delilah on the radio, and Kenny Roger's Ruby, Don't Take your Love to Town, these spring to mind as popular songs about killing a woman that's jilted someone. Are there popular songs about killing men who've been jilting someone? I ask because there may be such songs, and I'm suffering from perception bias.

It's a Cole Porter song. Ella Fitzgerald sang it, among many others.

But you're probably right about there being many more songs about men killing women.

That sounds like it was before my time (60-80s is when I listened to a lot of music) eta: I'm sure I didn't recognize the oddity that is "singing about killing someone I love" when I was actively listening to the radio in those days. I do recall things like I Shot the Sheriff and Bonny and Clyde, so perhaps I didn't think it was any different.
