Good work for everybody all around. Feel free to post your best guesses here for what the other teams key words were. That will probably be fun, though we have seen some of that already. Eventually the teams can reveal their actual key words.
Please let me know if you want to play again. I know that Ensign Steve wanted to join in the next round, maybe we can get other new players.
Oh, and slimshady you need to explain your round 5 clues. Were they intentional nonsense?
Ha, no my round five clues were not intentional nonsense
I was worried that they had guessed correctly the round before and I wanted to think of clues that wouldn't be in line with the clues we had already given.
I'll explain each one after Team B has had a chance to guess our words.
The spoiler contains our 4 words as well as the explanation for my clues in round 5.
Our words were: 1) law 2) fortnight 3) spring 4) playground
So well done on getting 2 of the 4 exactly right.
my clues were theatre, bells, march
I knew you guys were onto 1) law in particular and was trying to come up with a clue that wasn't in line with rule/court/decision etc... so I was thinking of using something like Newton's Law(s) but I thought Newton would be too obvious. And when I started thinking of other ones like Boyle's Law they all seemed too obvious as well, specifically because I think someone on Team B had already mentioned 1) could be law. So then I thought even though it's Bell's Theorem maybe my teammates would think "hmm bells law? theorem/law maybe..." also, if you google it there is a Bell's Law as well. I didn't think anyone would know that, but I thought they might google it. And of course I couldn't spell it like Bell's since that also seemed too obvious. But in the end, it was just way too out there for anyone to get.
Theatre was my clue for 4) playground. I was just hoping they would think theatre - play and then playground. So it was really only a clue to the first half of the word. But that didn't work either
The only good thing about the whole debacle was it confused the other Team even more possibly
And that is the story about how easy it is to waaaay over think things in this game
I was hoping to bait and switch with Monarch for path - which cepti mused over. Also steam with sea - maybe making you think volcano like in Hawaii right now.
I wanted to use Albert or Producer for Broccoli as in the James Bond producer - but "produce" would no double make you think of veggies.
Acroym was for Sad = Seasonal Affective Disorder or Social Anxiety Disorder
Never heard of MUD LOL or Monarch Airlines - this game messes with your head
My guess 'mood' for 4 was wrong - yet we used it to rule out 4 and concentrate only on the order of 1, 2, 3 in that last round. So it's a total fluke that we were still able to grok the correct answer.
Oh yeah and it was interesting how people being from different places changes how you view their clues.
Like cep gave a clue of yard at one point, which can mean different things in North America and the UK. We (NA'ers) would say my back yard to mean the property at the back of the house. But in the UK they would say back garden and yard means more like a builders lot or something. I know because I embarrassed Sou once by telling someone they had a lovely back yard
Yard was my clue for playground in one of the rounds. In the UK we would normally call the area outside a school where the children can play during breaks, a 'school playground' but sometimes now we use the more American 'schoolyard'.
Slim is right about 'yard' used to describe a place in the UK - it would usually refer to a small to medium sized outdoor area, enclosed by a fence or walls or similar, having a hard or unkempt surface rather than a lawn, and often not particularly tidy or organized.
