Hey, follow-up question. Where'd you get that number? Not that I can ever hope to reach it, but still...

In agents-stats, global stats link, 3rd or 4th graph down, let me just do a screenshot

The magenta line.

Of course it's a moving target as more people compete for it ...

It is just the agent stats people, I think, but that seems to be roughly representative of the players as a whole.

Except for those who get to level 16 and then promptly stop keeping track, of course. :glare:

I think you can get some idea (maybe not accurate) of your own recent unique count from the Ingress app itself. Just look in your agent page but change the default time period thing from 'all time' to 'week' and then look at your unique count by scrolling down.

Is there a 'month' setting as well as a 'week' one? I don't remember and I can't fire up my scanner now to check (in a hotel with WiFi where I'm browsing :ff: on my laptop, but the scanner complains that the WiFi isn't secure enough to connect)

There is a month tab, but the Unique portals visited looks much too high for mine (239 compared to my 73 on Via Lux in Agent stats and 80 on my /month on last upload). Is it unique for all time or just different portals visited in that month, many of which might have been hacked initially ages ago?

OH YEAH! :hyper:

Whoah! I just looked at my month and it says 242 unique portals and I was like WHOA! Then I realized that probably includes Tahoe cuz that was like the last 3 days of August. What terrible timing! Maybe if they do it based on UTC time, it'll include portals from my last day there. heh

I have 82 for the week, which is another data point and also a total surprise! Where the hell did I play? :chin:

Pretty sure the MONTH and WEEK views in the scanner don't relate to your progress towards Via Lux Adventures. They must be uniques only within the time period. I've got 61 for the week and I don't think I've been anywhere new.

Same here, my week shows 53 uniques and I know for a fact there were only two actual new uniques in that time (and confirmed by Explorer in Agent stats).

Well I spent a few hours in the City. Basically Liverpool Street to the Tower to London Bridge to Bank, and made 167 new unique portals. A longer and more dedicated (not "wasting" time on fielding and cleaning up nasty blue portals) day could definitely have visited 300 portals.

Still well short of the 919 963 estimated for top 25%.

I finally made lvl 16 last week!
Neighborhood has been heating up with a particular smurf (trollish self-proclaimed "Guardain [sic] Hunter" and associate/tool for scrapers and spoofers) smashing our neighborhood five days out of seven at 3:30AM. Luckily we have five or six solid agents in the hood plus another four casuals and will-upgrade-on-commute players.

Speaking of guardians... I've been recharging some for people that don't seem to be playing any more. There are 3 different remote portals that I have keys for where L1 players plonked down some resonators and then seem to have given up on the game shortly after. So far I have them up to 46, 49 and 52 days. I don't know why, but it pleases me to think I could get them to black guardian and that be their only badge :D Here is one:

Got them all to platinum recently, then lost one of them. Still have two going strong, come on Black Guardian :D

Also, I finally made Black Translator :woot:

And I saw 2 glyphs today that I had never seen before as well... begin was one, can't remember the other one but it looked like a fatter version of the shapers glyph

Ah yes, according to reddit new sequences were released recently. According to the glyphtionary the second one I saw must have been legacy I guess.

There are a LOT of glyphs on there I have never seen before.

Has anyone experienced their GPS showing them to be in a completely wrong location? I'm used to having a floating GPS, all telecommunications are a bit patchy in this neck of the woods, but last night my scanner was showing me as being in a fixed location, several hundred miles away. It was a strong signal, to the degree that i didnt realise i was incorrectly located, and allowed me to drop a capsule. We only noticed when the capsule didnt show up on my friends scanner and then realised the game thought we were hundreds of miles apart. Slightly concerned that my account could have been hacked or that a similar scenario could label me as a spoofer. Seems ok today but i was just wondering if anyone has experienced similar?

I've experienced something similar, but never that bad. A couple of times my scanner has thought I was maybe a mile away from where I was actually standing. Turning the GPS off and back on would fix it.

I sometimes drop capsules at my house for other frogs to pick up and once didn't notice that the scanner had me a couple hundred yards away in the middle of someone's broccoli field  I noticed it later, but it was too muddy and no one wanted to go get it

I have the problem right outside my house that if I try to play there I have to disable wifi, because it gets a really dodgy signal from my wifi but just good enough to work and connect. So I have had problems right when dropping or picking up capsules with important keys to/from others during major missions, which is terrifying until I remember why it isn't working.
But my drift is about the same as slim's, off by a few hundred meters very occasionally, but nothing consistent (or useful, like to another portal).

I haven't experienced that in Ingress, but if it uses wifi-assisted location detection (as Miisa's experience suggests), then I've experienced it on a train journey. Google Maps (and other apps) insisted I was still in King's Cross Station when I could clearly see out of the window that I in the countryside and had passed through other stations. Turning off the free on-train wifi sorted this out ... I hope that kind of wifi ssid gets removed from Google's databases.

Once when I was trying to connect to WiFi, my scanner flung me to New York City (I live on the west coast of the US) and Ingress speed locked me for 5 hours.

I have had WiFi signals throw me a mile off, which is disconcerting. I always worry about being banned for things like that, but it doesn't happen as much as it used to.
