Lake House currently has a 34% Tomatometer rating at rottentomatoes.com. That means reviews are running 34% favorable, 66% unfavorable. The reviews range from Roger Ebert saying "It’s sweet, and it works." to "If Kate (Bullock), a doctor with easy access to computers, would just take 10 seconds to Google the man she professes to love so much, the movie could be over in five minutes." from Dan Fienberg. I'm not going to bother with it until it runs on network TV, but even then, probably not if anything else worth watching is on.

That doesn't make sense to me, either...it's only two years apart! She could easily go find his two year older self.

It would have been better to make it 100 years apart or something.

I like Sandra Bullock enough to suspend all sorts of disbelief in order to see her.

However, my general reluctance to show up at a theater at a specific time and endure the too-loud sound and possible cursh of humanity will probably stop me from seeing it until it comes out on DVD.

I saw it very early on after its release — something very rare for me — and the theater wasn't packed, nor was the sound too loud for this film.

As for the Googling thing, perhaps you're right. Sandy is rather computer saavy after all.

Causality problems aside, I thought it a pretty good film.

I was a bit confused at first, too. But when I put aside the fact that it couldn't really happen and this was a fictional story, I rather enjoyed it.

'Course, I love Sandy. I've even forgiven her for Speed 2. Everyone makes mistakes.

I liked the movie even though it was predictable. I didn't find it confusing at all. The mailbox is a time wormhole and the dog is an alien. Not really, but the mailbox is some how caught in a time warp and some how the dog knows just when to get the owner to go chasing after it. I thought it was a sweet story.

Nah. I agree the span should be longer than 2 years, but not so long that they couldn't meet at all. Maybe around thirty years apart. Reeves is about 40, so if they met he'd be around 70.

Okay, we just returned from seeing The Lake House and the three of us give it a thumbs up. (HorseGirl, HG's friend, Lisa and myself)

It was a bit confusing as she is in 2006 and he is 2004 but they do cross paths here and there. The acting was okay, but all three of us thought Keanu's brother was weird. (in a Christopher Walkin kind of way)

So my advice is to wait for it on DVD but we enjoyed it.

The movie was supposed to start at 1:20pm but it was more like 1:40pm after sitting through 6 coming attractions

- Snakes on a Plane <-- what can I say? it's snakes, on a plane

- Lady in the Water <-- weird chick comes out of a swimming pool

- Mistress of Spices <-- looks good :yup:

- My Super Ex-Girlfriend <-- Uma :chin:

- The Night Listener <-- looks like a thriller with Robin Williams and I think that kid from Home Alone

- Accepted <-- kid sets up fake college to fool parents

Well, Miss Congeniality 2 definitely wasn't as good as the first one, but it was still, IMO, immensely better than Speed 2.
