I've seen the two Captain America movies and a ton of the Hulk episodes. They didn't need to be returned to my consciousness. (tho the 90s CA movie was much worse) The only thing worthwhile there was Lynde and also Alan Alda as the wrong Hawkeye.

Kiddo asked to spend some of his riches on the Lego Batman 2, so we pre-ordered it yesterday and will get a Lex Luthor keychain for doing so.
The Game Stop guy was all "It should be called Lego Justice League! It's going to be so awesome! It'll be the first game I'll pay full price for on release day!" It was p. cute even though I was all "whoa chill, man!"
I know this is about the new stuff, but I feel compelled to talk about JLU. People have been posting in the AV Club's BTAS discussion for ages about how brilliant JLU is and how it's better than anything. I was skeptical but put it in my queue, first with JL then JLU. I thought JL was pretty darned good and didn't understand how they could say JLU was that much better. Then I got the first JLU disc.
HOLY CRAP IS JLU AWESOME!!!!! I burn through the discs as soon as I get them and am annoyed when I don't get another episode immediately. Now I'm bummed that I will soon run out of new episodes to watch.
That's all, just had to share that.

Wow. That was *the* best episode of Young Justice ever.
Of course, I'm a huge Flash nerd, so take that into consideration. But, just being able to see four generations of Flash working together was this fanboy's greatest dream.
I'm not saying that I like YJ more than JLU, I don't think that will ever happen. However, the two are also very different shows despite sharing the same source.
Also....
Meta-gene? OMG! What I thought was just a Krolotean invasion may not turn out to be so much more.
Well, he kinda is and isn't. I mean, technically, Jay Garrick shares no blood relation with Barry Allen. However, Wally's aunt is Iris West, who will eventually become Iris Allen. She will give birth to Dawn and Don Allen, the Tornado twins. And one of them (I forget which) will become parent to Bart Allen.
This is the best news I have ever woken up to read.
This story has caused me internal strife stemming from the fact that I am no longer sure I am not a bigot.
When I first heard about a yet-undisclosed perrinial dc character being revealed as a homosexual, I thought it was a good thing. One of my friends said "how many gay superheroes do they need.". My response was to point out that that number would be based on the percentage of gay people in our society.
But now it is Alan Scott. He has always been my favorite DC character. I am going to give the book a chance, but I know from the first two issues that I do not identify with Alan as I once did, and I think it is because he is gay. Of course, maybe it is something else. I am also disappointed with jay Garrick for completely other reasons.
I trust James Robinson with handling the original JSA characters. I will give him a chance. But so far, it has been unimpressive and jarring.
Plus, I need to examine my own character. If this does not turn into a good story, I may be angry with mr. Robinson.
I might pick up some of the post 52 trades at some point. If so, anything with the JSA is going to be up towards the top of my list. Alan Scott is my favorite lantern by far, unless you count John Stewart from the DCAU (I didn't see that much of him when I read comics regularly)

Well, John Stewart had his own title with Green Lantern: Mosaic for a while there and it wasn't too bad. Though, it got very high-concept and a little preachy towards the end.
I never knew much about Alan Scott outside of the awesome The Golden Age miniseries. But, wow, what a series.
I have some random thoughts on superheroes that fit here as well as anywhere. I watched Batman/Superman: Public Enemies this week and was musing on it this morning. It occurred to me that there is very little difference between Lex Luthor and Tony Stark, except what side they're on. They are both geniuses, billionaire businessmen with their names on big buildings who made themselves power suits.
That led me to think of other parallels between villains and heroes and I realized that Loki sitting in his cage manipulating The Avengers until they were at each others' throats was very like the JL episode when Batman was captured by the Legion of Doom and messed with their heads until they fell apart. I think part of the beauty of comics is that there is so little difference between heroes and villains. Just one bad day.

Also, I forgot something I wanted to mention about Public Enemies.
I thought that sexually harassing Amanda Waller was much more evidence of insanity on Lex's part than injecting kryptonite into his veins. If I had daughters I would sit them down to watch it and tell them, "That's how you deal with a man who sexually harasses you. Call out the army if you have to, but make sure he loses his job." Amanda Waller is really growing on me.

The comicbook store where I picked it up was awesome. After I had seen the shirt and gushed over it, a very openly gay and really fucking happy middle age man came into the store (who was obviously a regular) and was inquiring the shop owners about the new series and while buying the the first (two, I think) issues of the story was asking if Alan Scott had gotten his powers yet. Anyway, he seem really excited about it and the guys behind the counter were all "lol, big gay Green Lantern #2".
And then I was like, fuck yeah, I am getting that shirt, but when I was checking out the cashier was all "oh, you're getting this because it's classic, right?".
So I am not sure if he was implying that I looked too straight to be buying that shirt or if he was like super proud he had some sort of gaydar thingy.
