Snow has mostly tapered off and will hopefully be gone as of 10 mins ago according to the forecast. I still have 11 hours left on this shift however.

This is awful, I know, but I am actually envious of people in NYC and DC right now.

I know people have died. People always die in weather like that from driving and shoveling. But there is something I really really love about when the snow gets bad enough that not only are you not required to go out, but you're not even allowed to.

I dislike snow between 1 and 6", though, because then the driving conditions are bad but everyone still has to drive in it. This is scheduled to happen to us tomorrow.

Much appreciated after the soaking we took earlier in the month. The rain gauge registered nearly 4" of rain for the week of 1/9 - 1/15.

Based on current models they're projecting 6 to 40 inches of snow here next week on Monday into Tuesday.

If we got 40 inches, I would expect non stop CNN coverage of the snow storm as it will affect at least 500,000 people and 4 million cows.

"That American Storm" is supposed to hit on a day or two. Which means the temperatures being 15°C higher than the should be and all that snow becoming a wet patch on the asphalt.

50 yesterday, 50 today, 40 tomorrow, anywhere between zero and 2 feet of snow on Tuesday. The stores are being cleared of eggs, toilet paper, bread, and chips. Weird. I bought ham on sale.

It's supposed to snow pretty hard here today and/or tomorrow, but yesterday, early evening, the temperature dropped really suddenly and it started snowing really hard. It was in the mid to upper sixties all day, then BOOM SNOW.

And I'm making pot roast today and had forgotten to get a bottle of wine for that, so I walked to the liquor store at the end of the street on the assumption that our big storm was just starting early and the store might even be closed today.

But then, after about half an hour, the snow stopped, and it hasn't restarted yet. So pretty much what happened is that we had this little half-hour snowstorm, I panicked and went running around in it like Chicken Little carrying a bottle of wine. I was also dressed really funny.

I think the best option we have right now is just to move and start fresh in a new location.

Here we were threatened with thunderstorms (literally: they had a severe weather alert come over the radio about them yesterday afternoon), but all we've had is no rain and a lot of wind. The clouds are moving too fast over San Diego to drop any rain on us.

The kids are disappointed that the snow isn't coming. Only 8" of snow puts it around a 50% chance of no school. They'll need to wish for the 50 mph winds to drift us in. I wanted 40" and wind so work would say, "No need to come in today".

The weather channel is broadcasting from here today, so we'll probably get 1 inch.

Unfortunately the snow is coming too late to screw with the Iowa caucuses; just because their TV ads have been annoying me.

The local TV station was interviewing people at the grocery store yesterday, asking what they were getting for the storm. I was there for the second day in a row, because of my lack of planning skills when it comes to food. It wasn't very busy at all. Just the normal restocking they do on weekends since that's when 90% of the worker bee population has the time to buy food.

They should have interviewed you. I would have told them, "I saw the snow and rushed out for my daily gallon of Mogen David."

They skipped me because I was there to buy last minute Ice Cream, imitation cheese spread, and chips for the fancy-dancy lunch we were having with my relatives. I didn't have the panic buying look.

I know for certain, I'll be stuck at home tomorrow and remember something else I forgot to buy, or wishing for a second jar of imitation cheese spread.

I just found out the world is going to end tomorrow on Ground Hog day. Schools are cancelling, the office will be closed, cities are shutting down, warnings to stay off the streets, dogs and cats sleeping together.

I too will stop by the stores for Mogen David gallons and waits for the flakes of snow to rain down.
