Snow Day!

No workie for me! And tomorrow is a down day at the base 'cause there weren't any DUIs for some time. Four-day weekend!

On the down side, my wife is due to start work again today after two months off (the landscaping place where she works shuts down for winter. I don't know if they are really going to open given the wintry weather that's ongoing.

I have a four day weekend too, four 12-hour day shifts starting today.

I had a snow day once in elementary school. There was maybe an inch of snow, but Rome isn't used to that sort of shenanigans so the whole city shut down. It was awesome.

How are you going to spend your snow-gotten gains, Javaman? Movies and hot chocolate? Generalized lollygagging?

Must be the same storm that hit us yesterday.

We only got ~1in here in Portland but it was enough for me to call in. Had I been working my normal shift (5am - 2pm) it would not have been a problem as it did not begin snowing until around 6am. I was working 8 to 5 due to some mandatory training I had to attend and by the time I had to leave for work it was not worth trying to drive in rush hour traffic during a snow storm.

Snow was short lived though and by noon had pretty much gone away.

I will mostly be lounging and then later watching three episodes of 'Lost' that the neighbor recorded for us (including last night so we didn't get confused). I think watching 'The Departed' is on tap for the evening. Drifts are getting big now.

There could be two feet of snow outside and I would still be expected to come in. I have done so before and will be expected to do so again. It really sucks, too. I guess that is one of the prices you pay for actually having a functioning and not worthless public transportation system.
