Welcome new decade, goodbye old nickname
Hi and Happy New Year.
As some of you know, I've been posting and lurking here under the nickname "EverLastingGodStopper" for a few years. The nickname started as a joke, then blossomed into a short "career" as a volunteer "atheist activist" during the late 2000s.
I've retired from "atheist activism" and only use the ELGS nickname on FF and JREF (where I barely post at all). I don't post on any other "atheist" forums, really. (Not that FF is one, of course, but... I digress.)
I am tired of this moniker and I feel it is part of my past. But I would like to stick around ... without dredging up the past every time I post.
So, what would you all prefer to call me? I am open to suggestions. Maybe a group decision would be best. Let's make it fun: whatever FF renames me, I will ask JREF to rename me, also.
If you do not know much about me, I am a boring housewife who loves doggies and kitties and chocolate. Not that it matters in regards to my nickname.
idk I had an entire bottle of champagne and just made a gin and tonic, and today I turned 41 and would like to leave my 30s behind me.
So what do you think? Wanna help rename me?
If yes, awesome. Post some ideas. If not, sorry, I'm just done with the ELGS nick and this is the main place where I use it, so you guys should get first dibs on changing it.
I'm gonna go watch more TV and have some more drinks... I'll check back for your ideas, Thanks! New year, new nickname!

Something short so it doesn't squeeze thread titles onto two lines when you're the most recent poster. I reek at usernames, though, so I can't actually be helpful. Scarlatti and Chuck are the idea men.

Because they have capitalization, perhaps?

you have to choose your own name. nobody else can choose it for you. it has to match who you are or want to be.

I don't really know you, but I rawk at names if I say so myself. Off the top of my head, boring housewife=June Cleaver. Shorten it to Cleaver and it has edge.
Happy New Year, Cleaver.

It's not that short, pithy or funny. That joke is old, fast.

haha no, you don't know me, I am not that great a cook (learning, though) and I'm even worse at cleaning. I do look kind of old-fashioned in pearls, though, so, hmm...

Re: Welcome new decade, goodbye old nickname
I agree. I think whatever name you choose should be a positive one. Also I would like to suggest you not think of yourself as a boring housewife and define your best qualities and perhaps a name that has to do with what gives joy in your life.
But that's just me. Perhaps if you throw us some ideas of what you enjoy these days we could throw some names into your hat to see if it fits.

Hmm, I am not sure if my likes or hobbies would make a good nickname. But those are interesting ideas, thank you.
I am really relieved that "Shut up, Stopper" is not in the running here.

Thank you. That's always nice coming from someone else, but idk if I could call myself that.
I apologize for my lack of original thought here. The gin and tonics are not illuminating the issue as much as I'd hoped.

Throw a couple likes and interests out there, and see what random things could pop out.
I just noticed your user title D.

How about a name you preferred to your own? When I was a girl I loved Rebecca because of Pocahontas and the fair Jewess in Ivanhoe.

Re: Welcome new decade, goodbye old nickname
So gin and tonics, eh?
Original Sin has your favorite spirit in it and has a nod back to the atheist past. Plus it has a fun feminist angle to it.

Phoenix Queen?
It seems like you see your 40's as a sort of rebirth for you, so that's my suggestion. There is the aspect of rebirth the phoenix and a regal aspect the queen.

That is very generous of you, Plant Woman. Lately I am not a force of anything. I am more of an observer than a do-er, now.
idk, is this a dumb thread? A lot of times I don't reply on FF because I feel like the ELGS nick has too much baggage, and if I just had another name, I could speak more freely.
The ideas I have now are kind of weird. I like a strange band that no one has ever heard of, and they have weird song names, and I was thinking I'd change my nick to something related to that band. It might be too obscure. Hmm. I will make another drink and think this over.
