The opposite was the opinion of many motorists in an article I read yesterday. The author drove their 2001 Chevrolet Malibu at 55 mph on I-5 for 200 miles on Sunday, got passed by 883 vehicles and got the finger at least a dozen times, sometimes a two-handed middle-finger salute. On the plus side they showed that driving 55 increased their gas mileage from 25 mpg to 35 mpg over driving the average speed, which runs around 80 mph. However, the CHP said, even though there is no minimum speed posted on that section of Interstate highway, they probably were doing something dangerous, impeding traffic, and thus should've gotten a ticket for driving too slowly. Right on, CHP!

There's a Halloween parade this weekend in Little 5 Points. They always have quite a show. There's a burlesque troop that usually has a float, and talk about buxom! It's usually a fun time.

Does anyone remember that show CHiPs? It rocked. We got a CHiPs big wheel for christmas one year, and we used to race it with the neighbors' General Lee big wheel. I miss big wheels.

Talk about big wheels, those pennyfarthings sure had big front wheels. I wonder how hard they were to ride. I think the first regular bicycles were marketed as "safety bicycles". That might be an indication.

The song Pennywheels by Sponge is a truly excellent song. Too bad their next album wasn't half as good.

I used to have an album collection. I bought albums such as the Beatles white album on white vinyl. It was getting to be quite a collection. When I moved away from Hawaii, I couldn't afford to ship it, so I sold it to help pay for the shipping of other practical household items, and pay for airline tickets for my baby and me.

Do you know how much tickets are for Six Flags? Good grief, they're $55 each! It's not worth that much. Even if you do get to go see midgets dressed up in Halloween costumes. On a side note, amusement parks + Halloween + LSD = loads of fun, well it used to be. No more drugs for me. Alcohol is all I can handle.

I like Handel. I sang the Messiah in 5th grade chorus until they kicked me out for rocking from side to side too much.

I used to have a Messiah complex. Through intensive shock treatments and other, less effective therapies, I got over it and now have a stigmata hallucination only once every few years. They're still really inconvenient, as I end up wasting a lot of paper towels trying to clean up the imaginary blood. It's not like there's an easy way to get the towels back on that flimsy little cardboard core, at least not without the roll looking really messy.

I know Lionel Messi is only 18 years old, but he seems to be Argentina's best hope in the upcoming World Cup. Is he the new Maradonna? I guess we'll see.

I recently heard Madonna asked the Swedish group ABBA for the right to sample one of their songs. They granted her request saying they respected her body of work. That has only occurred once before, Benny and Bjorn are very protective of their works. Did you know at one time ABBA was the second largest corporation in Sweden, right after SAAB?

Is it just me or all Swedish words acronyms? That makes me wonder what language the words whose first letters comprise the acronyms are in? It can't be Swedish after all, for that would cause an infinite regression.

I find that whenever I'm in a heated discussion with someone, I often try to use finish-language. I just feel that I have to respond to everything that has been said and have the last word. I need to stop doing this....uh, don't post after me.

Heated discussions? Finnish? Is this thread about saunas or something? I've been thinking about building a sauna, I love to sweat out the impurities in a nice cedar wood sauna, then roll in the snow. Unfortunately we don't get a lot of snow here in Oklahoma. Damn, I hate Oklahoma.

I always get nervous about saunas, I've seen one too many murder movies where they lock somebody in a sauna and broil them to death. I know it's probably not possible but can a sauna get hot enough to braise somebody slowly?

More like slow-cook. BTW, I saw some great slow-cooker (crockpot) recipes somewhere on this site. I particularly like chicken ciaccatore.

Crockpots are useful, but you have to remember not to add too much liquid when you fill them up. They retain most of the liquid rather than cooking it away, so NEVER add water. At least you don't have to worry about it bubbling up and getting all over the stove. I spilled some stuff on my stove and didn't clean properly under the burners, and this tiny little greasy moth laid eggs in the effluent. I had little greasy moth-larvae under the stove for weeks, and the adult moths were all over the house. That was really annoying. I hate little greasy moths.

Get yourself one of those sealed cooktops, they make them in electric and gas. I just installed a new gas one last year. It is great, plus we have much more precise control over the burners than the 30 year old one it replaced. In fact, the old one was so plugged up or something that you could only light up two out of the four burners at a time without losing flame. Now, you can start all four and run them all on high. This despite only having four ounces of gas pressure at the meter, 700+ feet away and 30 feet lower in elevation. I asked the gas company for more pressure but they just laughed at me. Now, I'm laughing at them laughing.

One time I had gas pains so bad it hurt to laugh. I told my husband about it and, of course, he decided it would be amusing to try and make me laugh. He can be a real asshole sometimes.

Last month we were all having gas pains, now it's diesel that has skyrocketed. I can't wait for my diesel Ford owning coworker to get back to work so I can hear him whine and moan about oil company conspiracies like everyone else did last month. You know, they've got those diesel pickups so pumped up on turboboost these days they don't even get very good mileage anymore. Back in the 80s and 90s diesel pickups got 20-25 mpg or better, now they're lucky if they get 20, tops. At $3.50 a gallon, that coworker, who drives 75 miles each way every day, will be paying out the ass for fuel, over $25 a day just to get to work. I'm glad I don't have one of those stinky noisy bastages.

My dad's middle name was Ford. Kids in school teased him and called him "Model-T." Kids can be cruel little bastards. I miss my dad. He was a kids' doctor. He became one just to spite those mean kids who teased him.

Tweaking? Do you think he was using methamphetamines? Someone close to me was on them for a couple years. She told me that you could get enough meth to stay awake for four or five days for about $35. She used to lose weight like you wouldn't believe. I believe it because a doctor prescribed amphetamines for me back in 1978 or 1979. I lost 27 pounds in 21 days. I am not kidding.
