Aiken's true crime was being picked up on radar.

I just wanted to add: there is a truly regrettable, yet fascinatingly awesome amount of cheesy, kitschy homemade artwork involving:

* 9-11;
* the Twin Towers;
* halfway visible US flags;
* crying/angry/vengeful bald eagles,
* giant Jesus doing different things (crying, praying, arm-wrestling the devil, catching dead people in a blanket painted like the US flag), etc.

and it's all available on the internet. The combined effect is what I imagine would happen if NASCAR, freerepublic.com, and Bob Ross had a joint convention somewhere. I've even seen some of this stuff custom painted on big pickup trucks and camping vans.

Seeing it all is like driving by a tragic, horrible car wreck: you know you shouldn't look at it, but you just can't help yourself.

Is Soledad O'Brien the only reporter on TV news that challenges the statements made by politicians?

What's the logic behind letting such obviously false and ignorant statements go without comment?

A lot of people are making hay about the "legitimate rape" part, but that's not the only bit that's offensive.

But let's assume that maybe that didn't work or something. You know I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.

I think he's forgetting someone....

He also repeated the 9/11 story nearly verbatim in both the Huckabee and Jaco Report interviews. I gather that a well practiced talking point.

There was no logic involved, apparently. Akin said a litany of insane things before the legit rape part so the reporter was numb to crazy by then. Also he wasn't "100% fully engaged" and he wanted to get to the economy before time was up.

“I dropped the ball,” Jaco said.

Aiken pant-hooted that a variety of baby factories from all walks of life would be subpoenaed to appear before his committee and "probed."

"We're going to penetrate this conspiracy, get inside of it," Aiken pant-hooted.

During a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, Mittens Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, pointed to a weather vane atop a barn and pant-hooted, "We'll just have to see which way the wind blows on this one."

"I'm perfectly willing to take off all my clothes, including my Magic Underpants, grow lots of hair, finger my own asshole and eat my own shit if I thought that by doing so I would win votes," Romney pant-hooted. "And given the state of America today, that will probably turn out to be a winning strategy."
