Beto O'Rourke is the Democratic nominee for governor of Texas, running against Republican incumbent and all-around shitbag Greg Abbott. Beto is not going to be governor of Texas, but he's gonna have a damned fine time between now and November. Here he motherfucks a wingnut during a town hall.
Here in Colorado, it's not uncommon to see a disconnect between hardcore party activists - the people who go to every monthly meeting of their county party, get themselves elected as delegate to all the various district, state and congressional assemblies, etc. - and the non-hardcore shlubs who basically just register as a member of a party and vote in primaries and general elections. So it was with Republicans this year. Every last crackhead trumpanzee whackjob running for statewide office won big among the party hardcore at the GOP state assembly. All those crackhead trumpanzee whackjobs lost their primary elections.
That's not to say that the Republicans who won their primary races are prizes or anything. Heidi Ganahl, the GOP nominee for governor and the only Republican in the current crop who's actually won a statewide race - was asked early on whether Biden won the 2020 presidential elections and derided the reporter for asking such a "divisive question." She's also picked an election denier nut as her running mate. That guy is now busy telling people that he is not now and never was an election denier. Badass political reporters Kyle Clark and Marshall Zellinger, who now both work for the same teevee station in Denver, are not letting him get away with it.
