Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

I went to take a look at the top 25 most censored stories of the year at Project Censored when livius mentioned it in this post, and as always found an interesting story.

So I decided we should have a series of threads, one for each of the stories. I will start the threads as the mood strikes me, but everyone else feel free to do the same. Just please use the same title format so they're easier to find. I'll be starting the first one - on the subject of corporate personhood - in a few minutes.

Feel free to use this thread as a peanut gallery or whatever.

OK

will get right on that

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

I remember seeing at least 16 or so of those stories in the big papers a while back. I suspect the censors aren't as good and these guys suggest.
Though none of those events are the kind that get a lot of major attention, anyway.
Censorship ain't what it used to be.

This one is still being censored

Source: Cleveland Free Times
Title: The Crohn's Connection?, June 16-22, 1999
Author: Lisa Chamberlain
Faculty Evaluator: Derek Girman Ph.D.
Student Researchers: Lisa Desmond & Julia O'Connor

Research points to a possible connection between gastro-intestinal Crohn's disease and the milk we drink. Four studies show that the bacterium Mycobacterium Paratuberculosis (MP); which is found in an almost identical Johne's disease in cattle, survives the pasteurization process and can infect us through the dairy products we consume everyday. This disease has already infected between 500,000 and 1 million people in the US alone and approximately 55 Americans are newly diagnosed each day. At least half of these victims will have an inflamed intestine surgically removed. Both medical and veterinary researchers agree that there is cause for concern and great need for further investigations, yet neither the government nor the dairy industry are willing to touch the issue. Forty-five percent of dairy producers are either unaware of the disease or know very little about it despite the fact that the dairy industry is losing 1.5 billion dollars a year in lethally infected animals.
Project Censored

Hard to believe it's still censored, and most people and doctors are all like, "It's a mystery!"

Of course these are the same geniuses that told us ulcers were caused by stress, and autism was from "cold mothers", that teething is best dealt with by using organic mercury and that radiation is actually good for you.

So, not really a surprise.

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

A quick browse through the science publications will find a number of publications that indicate a lot of exploration in that direction over the last 20 years.
No solid conclusions, one way or another, yet, but it seems to get a lot of attention.

What, exactly, defines censorship?

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

That is an easy question

"the suppression or prohibition of books, films, news, etc."

It can be parts of something, or an entire subject.

I've been reading up on some of the studies.
And, my sister, a long sufferer of Crohn's, told me that she is now in a study being carried on at Vandy.

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

So, again, the question - What actually is an indicator of something being "censored" ?

So far, it seems that it means that people in the news world just don't really seem to think that something is newsworthy enough to take up space in there platform, so they ignore it.

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

Well, it is an interesting concept.

And, of course the list is probably updated regularly. (At least I hope it is.)
I would translate it to "25 issues that nobody is talking about, these days."
A 20 year old issue should probably have fallen off the list, unless it really is censored with some authority.

But looking through their recent list, I find no surprises.

I had to laugh at the Julian Assange bit (#8)

So, no surprises, means non of that stuff is being very well controlled or censored, that I can tell.

But I suggest that any discussions should be focused on the newest list.

Does it contain Hunter Biden's laptop?

The FBI and the CIA censoring using social media?

UAPs?

Or the really big story, that nobody is censoring anything! It's all Russia and Trump's fault!

Like a worm, ~F~X~ performs a valuable function - turning over ancient threads and leaving little piles of shit on the surface.

Yeah. I'm the one "making shit up." I got news for you, troll--we've had domestic electricity for well over 100 years, now. There's no more need for gaslight.

The Woke Online Experts actually thinks a medical practice, or Doctor, or anyone really, can publish that Crohn's disease is over, we know what causes it, and here is the treatment.

The censorship is such that the WOE just "knows" there is no censorship about this, and anyone who says otherwise must be a "troll", and wrong, a liar in fact, because the WOE as always, is an idiot.

Of all the stupidity posted online, that takes today's ribbon.

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

There's an easy way to counter people who you think are liars.

You just post something that makes it obvious they are a liar.

Like, in this case, you simply publish a link to where people with Chrohn's disease can be treated with antibiotics to rid them of the cause of their disease.

Nah, it's just ordinary logic.

It's not even surprising that the usual idiots still tell people suffering from Crohn's disease that Diet has nothing to do with it, they don't know the cause, and please send more money for research.

Re: Project Censored: Top 25 Censored Media Stories

It's very much like the resistance to accepting ulcers ere being caused by a bacterium.

While it may seem impossible, the same Nobel winning Doctors who proved H Pylori is the cause of ulcers, are not believed when they also stated the same bacterium is the cause of most cancers of the stomach and the small intestine.

Sometimes it's not only censorship, it's something else that leads otherwise seemingly intelligent people to act like damn fools

This isn't really about censorship. When they say that one in 800 people suffer from Crohne's, you can bet that at least 400 of those 800 consume just as much milk and dairy as that one.
So, the answer is not simply that a bug in Cows causes the problem, but why does it only cause it in that one of the 800. Until that question gets answered, the science continues with no resolution.
So, until that time, no scientist is going to mark the puzzle solved.
That's not censorship. That's just plain old science at work.
