@ the notion that the Amish are not "Western"- The Amish are still a horrible control group because, as noted, their lifestyles differ greatly from the surrounding populations and they have a semi-isolated gene pool
Do you understand the purpose of a control group? You want them to be as close as possible to the experimental group in all senses except the one variable you're actually investigating.
