In video San Diego Officers fake Fentanyl Overdose to scare residents.

The video shows an officer abruptly collapsing moments after handling a substance identified as fentanyl. His superior officer then rapidly summons an ambulance and administers naloxone. This substance is used to treat narcotic overdoses.

The deputy survives. His superior officer claims “he would’ve died in that parking lot if he was alone.”

SDCSD says the video of the “overdose” is taken from the officer’s body camera footage. The department said it doesn’t know if the officer was exposed by touching or inhaling the drug.

Critics on Twitter aren’t buying it.

Fentanyl doesn’t work this way, you can’t OD by touching it. If you could it certainly wouldn’t have made its way into other drug supplies. Touch it and the lick your fingers, maybe, or perhaps using it to salt a wound, but brush up against it and collapse, yeah that would be a no.

That’s also not how someone would faint from it, all nice and ridged. Loss of muscle tone causes the body to go floppy, not to topple over and hold their arms up. The guy I saw OD on the bus waned a bit in his seat before sliding out of it like a dead floppy fish (after naloxone he seemed to be coming around when the emts arrived) He was basically a dead body flopping onto the floor which was then revived through chemistry magic.

I’m not sure what is worse, either this is all staged bullshit to keep the public scared, or they really do handle evidence without gloves and then freak themselves out so much they have collapsing panic attacks. Eitherway I’m sure glad they’re walking around with guns, harassing people. Seems like the perfect sort for that kind of job.
