The idea is to "baffle" them, i.e. overhwhelm them with enough information/redundant data/meaningless crap, to accomplish the means of completely and utterly confusing them. Ever gone over someone's head and just caused them to give up because they don't get it?
In this way, you save face for being ignorant and/or arrogant by being... well, ignorant and arrogant.
