Daryl Davis is probably the best example I've seen, dude who makes friends with KKK members. He has a closet full of robes sent to him by his friends, who are now ex-KKK.

Not everyone can be persuaded in practice, but a lot of the people that people dismiss the possibility of persuading are in fact pretty persuadable.

There was one guy who got involved with Aryan Nation bullshit in prison, came out just viciously hating Jews, but the only job he could find he was working for a Jewish guy. So he was expecting to get screwed on pay somehow, and his first paycheck came around, and the guy said "hey can i talk to you about your check", and he thought "oh, here it comes", and the guy said "yeah i noticed you work really hard so i threw in a bonus there, keep up the good work".

And his entire worldview fell apart because this was just completely impossible if his beliefs about the world were true, and he just thought "wait, what if... that's just all bullshit".

Reason I'm not spending time trying to educate disobey is that the central component of all the stories of people who get out of this shit is that they have courage, and engage with things they see and experience.
