Ever since the Stanley family sold off the Hotel, and the new owners embraced the false story about the hotel and its part in the movie, Estes Park has somehow morphed into a new collective identity.
I'm not sure I like it, But, it's not just Estes. I think the whole state has become some other creation. Even Paradox has become a tourist trap.
