Who knows? I don't claim to know what his precise motivation was!
Alex Jones was saying recently that Trump being assassinated could be good for the conservative movement because it would make him a martyr and so on.
More likely is that he just has muddled and incoherent beliefs, since this is often the case with would-be assassins and mass shooters.
But the thing is that Donald Trump doesn't know either, but I'll bet you he will make unjustified claims about it.
