There is now a movie about the praying Bremerton football coach. It comes about a year after Joe Kennedy returned to his coaching role in Bremerton (he only coached one game and then resigned a second time). It also comes exactly one year after Kennedy's memoir hit bookshelves. The ghostwriter for that book also happens to be the screenwriter for this film, "Average Joe." Kennedy started making news when he refused to stop praying with students on the football field following games. It led to a lawsuit and ultimately the Supreme Court, which sided with the coach. The trailer for the movie was recently released, providing a view into Kennedy's side of this drama, and revealing something that you never knew existed — the heathenous, fervent anti-church hellscape that is Bremerton.
