Default Eyes Wide Open--Coming to a place near you?

Hello, everyone.

Yesterday, I had the chance to see the traveling exhibit Eyes Wide Open about the Iraq war. It was created by the American Friends Service Committee.

I'm feeling incredibly inarticulate today, and sluggish, so I'm not going to be able to convey anywhere near adequately the feelings that it created. It's not anything close to uplifting, in fact, I left nearer to despair--but it has provided several hours of serious conversation between friends. One good thing it brings about is a recognition that there are people in the world who are actively working for peace and harmony in the world--and that the people who are attending at the same time as you are have at least a hunger to think about this issue and perhaps move toward the goal of peace.

I think that the most moving part of the exhibit is the representation of our fallen soldiers by pairs of boots (a fraction of the Iraqi civilian casualties are also represented with shoes)--at the moment it's 1100. And counting, doubtless.

So this is really an FYI for those of you in ATL--it will be there tomorrow, the 19th, at Woodruff Park from 10am til dusk. Next week, it will be moving to Florida, for those of you down there. I really encourage you to visit, although you likely won't hear anything new--but if you could encourage your friends or family who may not be as informed, that would be great.
