Re: Some Famous Vegetarians
Meat-eating plants need to eat animals for survival, and don't have the cognitive ability to evaluate the morality of their actions anyhow. Humans don't strictly need to eat meat to survive with modern technology and so forth, and we have the ability to evaluate the effects of our actions.
I mean, I'm not a vegetarian, but honestly, that's very easy to shoot down.
What I wonder is if it is acceptable to him, to eat roadkill. The animal was healthy at time of death, so it should be safe to eat. It will be dead regardless of whether you eat it and you didn't intend to kill it beforehand.
I assume alphamale drives a car (probably an SUV even) so he will probably kill some animals with his car at some point. Is that an acceptable sacrifice to you? Or do you do anything to try to prevent there from being any animals slaughtered by your vehicle? How do you determine what is an acceptable sacrifice of animal life, and what is not? Why would, for example, driving your own car and probably killing some animals at some point be acceptable while eating some of the same animals would not be acceptable?
Which animals are acceptable to eat? Any of them? For example, is it acceptable to eat insects? If not, how do you reconcile that with the use of pesticides to protect the crops of plants that you DO eat?
And so on - those are I think tougher questions to answer. Especially given his expressed opinions towards environmentalists. I doubt alphamale will make any substantive response to them tho.
Come on now, alf - don't you ever want to prove me wrong?
