I don't remember seeing this one before. Here's my guess (but don't look if you want to carry on working it out for yourself).
If you move the lowest coin so it is resting on top of the one in the centre of the +, then you have two rows of four coins. They are only rows with three positions, but the centre position is occupied by two coins at once.
