In February 2016, close to nine months before the election, our p.o.s. hopefully-soon-to-be-former-Sen. Cory Gardner said of the vacancy created by Justice Scalia's death, "Again, I think we’re too close to the election. The president who is elected in November should be the one who makes this decision."
