PBS's Frontline
I find myself watching this all the time recently. In a world of sensationalism and blatant bias, it is quite refreshing to see, I dunno, straight reporting. Their show "Sick in America" was excellent...like Sicko without Michael Moore.
Anyone else like Frontline? Any episodes you found excellent I may have missed so I can catch up online.

"Bush's War." A 2-parter, over 4 hours in length, but well worth the time. It sits in my TiVo since it aired about 2 years ago, until I get around to burning it to DVD. It nails down who started the mess, from the US, Iraq and elsewhere. Best anatomy of a clusterfuck I've ever seen.

Watched "Black Money" last night about corporate bribery of foreign governments (cough cough Saudi Arabia). Again excellent journalism.

Something is Rotten at PBS
by Russell Mokhiber
Quote:
... Reid traveled around America, interviewing patients, doctors, and health insurance executives.
The documentary that resulted - Sick Around America - aired Monday night on PBS.
But even though Reid did the reporting for the film, he was cut out of the film when it aired this week.
And the film didn't present Reid's bottom line for health care reform - don't let health insurance companies profit from selling basic health insurance.
They can sell for-profit insurance for extras - breast enlargements, botox, hair transplants.
But not for the basic health needs of the American people.
Instead, the film that aired Monday pushed the view that Americans be required to purchase health insurance from for-profit companies.

Re: PBS's Frontline
Vigilance, people - even on the sources you believe are beyond reproach.
"Mr. Worf, villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot. Those who clothe themselves in good deeds are well-camouflaged."
"I think, after yesterday, people will not be so ready to trust her."
"Maybe, but she, or someone like her, will always be with us – waiting for the right climate in which to flourish. Spreading fear in the name of righteousness. Vigilance, Mr. Worf – that is the price we have to continually pay."

Episode Poisoned Waters
And I don't believe anyone is beyond reproach, but Frontline still examines things deeply, and does topics other news orgs aren't.

Re: PBS's Frontline
Frontline is a wonderful show. My favorite episode was the one they did a few yeara ago on Dick Cheney. I'm on my phone at the moment so I can't look it up, but it's well worth watching.

Re: PBS's Frontline
OK, now that I'm home here's the link. The episode was called "Cheney's Law" and you can watch it here. It was quite chilling to say the least.
