This makes me sick
Palm Beach County school administrators have not decided yet whether to air President Obama's nationally televised address Tuesday to the nation's schoolchildren, which the chairman of Florida's Republican Party has called a ploy to indoctrinate students into a "socialist ideology."
Earlier this week, state Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer stirred up a nationwide ruckus by denouncing Obama's planned speech.
"As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology," Greer, a close confidant of Gov. Charlie Crist, said in a news release. Greer also accused Democrats of "going against the majority of American people and usurping the rights of parents by sending Pied Piper Obama into the American classroom." Palm Beach Post
These people are truly disgusting.

Yeah...yeah...yeah....
And Dwight D. Eisenhower was a communist. The John Birch Society has all the inside information on this kind of stuff.
Somebody needs to tell that joker this is a socialist country now and all the schoolchildren need to learn to be good practicing Americans, which means being socialists.

Yeah, it's spreading quickly, Scar. On another forum of mine, there are a bunch of teachers. One of them has to get permission slips for her students to watch the speech, and find a suitable activity - and monitor - for the children of people who object.
Funny, when I was in high school/college, we watched some speeches of GW's, and we didn't need to go through all this hoopla.

Well...Now you know.
When Dickhead is president, you can scream about not wanting your kids exposed to the president's fascist ideology and demand that they not be exposed to the bullshit.

I'm pretty sure one of them told the administrator to go fuck himself when he decreed the permission slips.

Would it not have been great if President Bush could have captured the attention of a captured audience, all the public school children in America, and told them about how great it is to invade nations for oil!
Then they could have had teacher lead talks about what the children could do to support the President.
The children could have written essays about what they were going to do to support the President.
The teachers could hold the children accountable for their essays!
Me neither.
FYI: There was no hyperbole in my characterization, you can find the memo from the US Dept. of Education sent to schools as to how to handle the President's speech.

Except he wouldn't have said that, just as surely as Obama is not going to "indoctrinate" them with "socialist ideology."

These people are fucking unbelievable. I'm listening to this Greer person talking about this right now. What a crock.
I seem to recall listening to presidential speeches during class when I was in school (a long, long time ago). I don't think my parents had to sign permission slips.

Y'know, JERONG, you continue to surprise me. I would never have guessed that you'd be the type to mindlessly follow the instructions from a bunch of socialistic bureaucrats...but here you are pushing it.

How so?
I am against any President using the public school system to teach how the children should help any particular President.
You do realize that this is a new idea. Never before has a POTUS used the public schools to teach why the children should listen to and help the political elite.

WTF?
Are you serious?
Have you listened to others in this thread? Do you think us idiots?
You are not really an American citizen, are you? You obviously did not grow up in this country. What, did your parents ship you off to Aruba, Tortuga, or the Cayman Islands?
I was forced to listen to US presidents throughout my schooling. I remember JFK, LBJ, Richard Nixon all pushing the space program and the need to beat the Ruskies. I remember the President's Fitness Program...there was a special commission to push this crap at the elementary school level.
FAIL, again, fuckhead.

You are confused.
This was meant to be a direct talk from the POTUS to the children of America about why they need to listen to their elected leaders and what they can do to help the POTUS. With assignments from the US Dept. of Education having the children writing essays about how the children can help the POTUS and also holding the children accountable for what they wrote in their essays.
Do you really not see how this is different?

A bit different than learning about why you should listen to the political leaders and write an essay concerning this idea and being held accountable for you essay.

Now, that was fucking unconstitutional.
Oh...Ronnie...no surprise there.
"What do you do when your president ignores all palpable, relevant facts and wanders in circles?" ~ David Stockman
It seems to me Ronnie's wife, the First Lady, was heavily involved in indoctrinating school children...remember "Just say 'No' to drugs"? And, he was involved in the kick-off video that was shown in schools throughout the country.

The speech is about why kids should work hard in school and the value of education. I read the memo. You say you did, but yet are mischaracterizing it. Does that make you a dishonest cunt?
