Default Microsoft to digitize 100,000 books

Readers will be able to search through around 25 million pages of material next year without having to visit the library in London or pay any fee.

Microsoft is initially investing $2.5 million in the project, but both sides say there are plans to digitize more titles in the future.

Between this and the $6 billion the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has put towards philanthropic spending in the last 5 years (including a recent $260 million towards eradicating malaria worldwide) it's getting harder and harder for me to believe Bill Gates sold his soul to create the predatory monster that is Microsoft.

Where's Sauron? I need a hot M$ hate injection.

He has no soul, he's a fellow non-religious person. He's still evil though, because he hasn't given us any of that money. Come on Bill, just a few cool billion for me? You can afford it. I'm poor, I need some charity too. :pout:

I've just been pretending that they are going to fill the digital books with ads. That helps me.

Microsoft books? I like paper, not because I'm against high technology, far be it, but I'd rather not have my computer lock up, crash or become vulnerable.
