How specifically could Barney Frank have single-handedly blocked regulation of FNMA? I'm not reading Fox "News" side of it. You tell me why, with Republicans in control of both houses of Congress for 16 of the last 20 years and in the White House as well for 8 of those, they couldn't have imposed regulation anyway? I await your learned response.

It started in the early 90's with him pushing for looser regulations.

Even Clinton says they shoulder much of the blame:

This is a repeat of another thread. That video is just clips without context. It doesn't prove a damn thing. Republicans were still in control and did nothing, nothing at all when they could have. I'm not saying Democrats have no blame, but it's pretty hard to put this off on them when Republicans have been in control since 2000 and haven't.

One might also note that Frank sponsored a bill that actually passed establishing additional regulations on the GSEs in question, upon the Democratic takeover of the Senate.
