What's the deal with...
What's the deal with Conservatives and lying, seriously?
Want to be a Conservative? Fine. Quit lying, though, goddammit!
Quit being teat-fed on Fox News, quit reading Newsmax, quit making fucking Conservapedia.
Conservapedia... what the ever living fuck?! Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK!
I'm all for First Amendment (and Second, and so on) rights, but I'm not completely sure I could restrain myself from decking the people who wrote the articles on evolution, atheism, homosexuality...
If you're hard up for something to do for fun, play Spot the Logical Fallacy there.

Re: What's the deal with...
My grandfather was a life-long Republican, and a state legislator for most of his adult life. Much to his disgust, he lived long enough to see the word "Conservative" hijacked by ideologues for whom whether or not what they were saying was true seemed to matter a whole lot less than whether or not what they were saying would garner votes.
It's part of drove him out of politics in disgust.
Cheers,
Michael

everybody lies regardless of what politics or philosophies they follow. if you think that's not true- you're lying to yourself.

Re: What's the deal with...
It's hardly news that politicians in general -- or anyone who's trying to sell you something -- aren't always honest. But the modern "Conservatives" (whose policies bear rather little resemblance to traditional political conservatives, actually) seem to have raised raw appeals to emotion and blatant dishonesty to an art form.

Not particularly. I certainly don't self-identify as a "liberal."

I find they do a lot less of it.
No, I'm not a Democrat. In the interests of full disclosure, though, I am socially very liberal.
I just don't see the systemic bullshitting in the Left that I do on the Right.
Where's the Left's equivalent of Fox News?
There is no liberal media.
A liberal Fox News would have a rainbow backdrop behind the anchor desk, and a long-haired woman would sit cross legged on the desk strumming a guitar and singing Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit.
Zombie Friedrich Engels would smoke a giant hookah while talking about the finer points of socioeconomics, and randomly blurt out, "Death to Capitalism!"

Re: What's the deal with...
Earlier today on Fox News, some dude sitting in for Neil Cavuto told Bob Beckel to stop talking about the Tea Party because they weren't there to defend themselves. Then the dude started raving about Obama and Nancy Pelosi, who weren't there either.
There's no question in my mind that -- on balance -- conservatives are the worse liars. And the holiest: just ask them.

exactly.
and i'm sure you're busy looking at all the moderate conservative sites and news, not just the stuff that allows you to spout the above.

"Busy" and "looking at" aren't the words I would use, but I'm pretty well informed on U.S. politics, yep.

Re: What's the deal with...
oh it's just funny to me to watch people behave the same way the people they hate behave.
kind of the reason i've acted like a tool here in the past and run away from that very fact.
it amuses me.

Re: What's the deal with...
Hating people, as distinct from dishonesty more generally. See, you didn't even know what you were responding to.
You don't need to be a lawyer, you just need to be something other than fucking brain-dead.

Re: What's the deal with...
Here's another example for you, in the context of the health care so-called "debate" that's been paralyzing the federal government here. A United States Senator said he knew of a friend of a friend, formerly living in Canada, who the Canadian authorities let die -- what he said was actually more like "killed" -- while a patient simply and purely on account of the patient's advanced age. No name, no city, no hospital. A United States Senator said that, on national television, without any challenge from the host. I'm not aware of any individual on the other side of the debate who's ever said anything as remotely dishonest as that. There is bias -- which is obviously everywhere -- and there is flat-out lying. Have you ever heard of Sarah Palin?
