who will you vote for and why
I have been on as you know a couple of forums in the last couple of years. This is the 1st one that I can actually read a political thread with out a lot of crazy bashing and name calling etc. I normally have other avenues to check out who is running for what and what they represent but this year I have not really looked in to it much. With that being said I got an idea from this thread True dat, Lolbertarian...whaaat? - Page 2 - Freethought Forum I want to know who you will be voting for and why you will be voting for that person.
Like I same I cant really answer this question myself yet because I dont know since I have not done my homework on it yet, so to speak.
yes I am a Republican but I do not always vote that way before you ask.

I do not vote in state elections, only national. The state I live in always elects people I think are heinous, because I am surrounded by rednecks.

Re: who will you vote for and why
ETA: To answer the OP, I normally vote straight party line Democrat in general elections unless I have a special reason not to. I'm in Indiana, so my choices are pretty much conservative Republicans, slightly less conservative Democrats, or Lolbertarians. My toolbox of a Congressman is actually facing a real challenger this year, so it should be interesting.

Re: who will you vote for and why
I guess it really depends on the qualities of the people. I mean, it's still a bit too soon for me to have made any solid decisions yet, especially since they haven't really received any media coverage. Still, even after much thought and consideration, I still make the wrong choices.
Take the most recent time out. I knew who I wanted to win and things just didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. It just goes to show that anything can happen, really.
I mean, how in the world does someone as vanilla as Lee Dewyze beat out a totally interesting person like Crystal Bowersox?
America got it wrong that time.

Not thrilled by the candidates to replace the Governator around here. I'm thinking I'm going to vote for Mr Brown.

STOP PUMPING ME FOR INFORMATION!
Jeebus H. Kris Kristofferson, it's like the Ledo Deck Cruise Activity Director is going to organize some Facebook Games so we can all relate! Right now!
I am requesting a slow to your roll. Let shit unfold organically. I keep expecting a thread on "What is your mother's maiden name and your date of birth?", and "Let's list our bank accounts and social security numbers". Somewhere between Homeland Security, Internet scammer, and something else. I get itchy.
Plus I only give that info to Lees, because as Official Weekend Moderator she has that kind of power.

Re: who will you vote for and why
I have typically voted party-line Democrat for the sole reason that they typically give poor people slightly more assistance than Republicans do. I'm even more thoroughly disgusted with both parties than I typically have been, though, and am going to vote Charlie Crist for senate this year as a protest vote. I actually agree slightly more with the Democratic candidate, but (a) he won't win, and (b) sending a message is more important to me than the rather insubstantial difference between candidates.

To be fair I think the republican candidate may actually eat kittens so it's a pretty obvious choice. I'm certainly voting against her more than I'm voting for anyone.

Depending of what's at stake, I vote Social Democrat (only to keep certain other parties out) or preferably Communist.

Re: who will you vote for and why
If I vote at all, which is not ever a given even in a presidential election, then I will probably vote party-line Peace and Freedom.
Luckily, the Peace and Freedom Party is fielding a candidate for senator (Marsha Feinland), so I will have another way of expressing my disgust with Barbara Boxer, rather than leaving that field blank. I couldn't vote for Carly Fiorina even in protest, who seems to yet another of those cases where the statewide party will field an opposition candidate so appalling that even their own constituency will think twice. An extreme example of the same thing happened in Connecticut in 2000, where Joe Lieberman's opponent, Philip Giordano, turned out to be a pedophile who is now serving a 37-year prison sentence.

Re: who will you vote for and why
I always vote for the candidate who promises to clean up Washington (or Albany, in state elections), cut taxes (but not taxes on the filthy rich), cut spending (but not on things that I care about), and who is an outsider not beholden to The Establishment (unless being an insider means more pork for my district).
I'm not easily stirred up by campaign rhetoric, either.

I don't know if I'd go that far, I just haven't come across any particularly compelling reasons to vote for her over the other guy who at least has a track record and is fairly moderate.
