Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. “And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
As you might expect, at least one of the lawmakers who had supported Bundy quickly condemned his remarks. You can probably expect other lawmakers to follow suit.

Burning Man organizer plans anything-goes ‘Bundyfest’ to mock scofflaw rancher

“Some people have asked me, where will we camp, where will we park?” Shealy said. “Anywhere, really. It’s fucking anarchy.”

The Facebook page for the event promises no permits will be required, full nudity will be permitted, and the atmosphere will be gay-friendly.

However, Shealy warned, no bathroom facilities would be provided.

“You’re free to let it all hang out right there, just like Bundy’s cattle, right there in the Virgin River, if you want to,” Shealy said.

Organizers also plan a “penis erection contest,” where participants will be awarded prizes for the largest phallic structure built in the desert.

Shealy said organizers expect about 50,000 people to show up in the desert near Bundy’s home.

Having seen what it takes to get 50k people out to the desert, I highly doubt this will hit even a fraction of that. On the other hand, knowing the type of people who make it out to 4th of Juplaya, another unofficial Burningman event in the desert, I expect these hippies to be more armed than Bundy cruising around in mad max style cars shaped like giant penises.

I was getting my nails done and they had CNN on mute with the closed captions and it was Wolf and the other two people talking about this. I don't know what show that is, it's like fox and friends but on CNN. They kept cutting to the guy making stupid remarks and then coming back and talking about how this shouldn't be news and that he's just like any other racist militia guy, but he somehow got the national spotlight and he's using it to add his voice to the conversation. (Wouldn't we all?) Then they said he was going to give yet another press conference, and I wondered whether CNN planned on showing it.

Of course they'll show it. That's what CNN does: transmitting live press conferences instead of giving us the fucking cliff notes like a journalist is supposed to.

If he was taking about his cattle or the land or the case in question, that'd be one thing. But at this point it seems the story is now "look at this asshole, he's still trying to defend his racist opinions" and it's like, nobody cares! We can all get that from our drunk uncles on holidays.
