Default McCain: American Hero (more so than ever)

Senator John McCain of Arizona vows to add torture prohibition to every Senate bill until it passes. I guess Cheney didn't impress upon him sufficiently the need for the CIA to torture people when ever the fuck they want to. In my opinion, McCain has this one right.

Define torture.

I'm sure McCain has a good definition.

US law already has a legal definition of torture, as do the Geneva Conventions.

It's far past time for McCain to stand up to the chickenhawks. I'm glad he's finally on the case, but where has he been for three years?

I figure he's got a vested intested in this torture issue, regardless of his intent to run for President, given his suffering a year of torture as well as two years of solitary confinement (sort of torture in itself) during his five and a half years in the infamous Hanoi Hilton, a North Vietnamese prison. Then again, he, like any other Republican that runs in 2008, will have to run as an anti-Bush conservative.
