Doesn't it just mean that the Bush administration was hellbent on invading Iraq, no matter what, whether 9/11 occurred or not? And, consequently, doesn't that mean that any extraneous justification it offers is just completely bogus?

I figure it's just a way of spreading around new talking points to the various Republican operative out there spinning madly. They've probably been begging for new material since the first presidential debate. I doubt they give a rat's ass about being convincing; the aim is to generate a freshly(half)-baked excuse when the old ones are so stale even they can't stand them anymore.

Umm ... didn't we hear how Dubya started planning how to get Saddam out of office almost as soon as he (Dubya) got into office?

Man, imagine if the 9/11 attacks hadn't gone down. Would we still have gone to war with Iraq?
