I have been speaking with someone on another forum who believes that Castro 'accepted Christ' after meeting with an American preacher/evangelist. This seems so unlikely to me that I admit that I snorted in derision. Can anyone furnish me with evidence that such a thing has NOT taken place, ie recent quotes from Castro concerning religion, etc? thanks. (And yes, i have asked the person to provide proof and no, she can't.. sigh).

An ostensibly Marxist leader "accepting Christ" is a pretty outrageous claim.

If I was Fidel Castro I'd "accept Christ" if it made the American preacher/evangelist shut the hell up and go away.

I'd wager that's exactly how it went down, if the evangelist actually met him. (Moose, did the post give a name?)

If it is true it proves that "accepting Christ" doesn't change an individual, as Castro still jails dissidents and suppresses free speech, freedom of assembly, etc. If I were trying to make Christianity look good I wouldn't go around talking about how a guy accepted Christ but is still a dictator.
