Well, good. Maybe you can slap Barthes around a bit, textually, and tell him to pay up the 20 bones he owes me.

The quote I responded to said people use cultural narratives to interpret what they perceive during sleep paralysis episodes. In my case, there was no need for interpretation, because it was perfectly clear what was happening.
As for what you are evidently calling my "narrative", there was nothing cultural about it in the sense of being a synthesis from ideas I had been exposed to. Dark entities are not a product of cultural imagination; rather, cultural references to demons, irrespective of how much they may be exaggerated, only exist because those entities exist in reality.

Don't sweat it. No sense in belaboring the obvious, after all.

Actually it's quite diverse. But often times, yes, it can get quite ugly. But, how does one speak any differently of "your" world?
|
In my world, I am not attacked by evil spirits nor do movie aliens actually exist. In my world, there are dangers, yes, but they are limited by natural physical laws so not only are they more predictable and detectable, but also I can avoid many and protect myself from many.

E.g. by using the 'ignore' feature.

All available evidence suggests it's either dark spirits, the Human Torch, or greedy dwarves who delved too deep and woke this guy up

Re: How Do You Know It's Not Magic, Smart Guy?
So I dreamt once that I went to a town full of victorian era houses. Then a water spirit came up through a well and sucked me down. My uncle was pissed that I was visiting too.
Then, in real life, about a month later I went to Port Townsend. It looked like the town in my dream. I declined staying the night there.
Moral: victorian era towns are creepy.
Victorians, also creepy.

That looks more 60's or depression era, but yeah, also creepy.
As is the movie "Spider Baby." Which that picture reminds me of.
