It's not a problem for me, I just thought it was worth making it very clear that the story in the OP has nothing to do with gay marriage for anyone who might not be paying attention. Besides if you were to change the title now half the thread wouldn't make any sense.

the only thing that makes the story sensational is the fact that the guy came out as gay. if he was just cheating on her it probably would not have gotten the press.

You think so? It seems more likely to me all the press is because she's a famous author who wrote a book based on how great this relationship was, then found out it was all a lie. His homosexuality almost seems like a side-note to me.

I have a feeling if he was straight and they were splitting up (cheating or no cheating) this would not have made the press. Unless maybe he were leaving her for a woman twice her age. That's a story I'd read!

I think it would have gone to press, but him being gay just made it more sensational. It shows that the entire marriage was most likely a lie. Where as if she caught him cheating, it could appear as if only the last year of her marriage was a lie.
It's also rarer than if he was just plain cheating.
