So my sister works in the airline business, so she can get us some cheap flights, but there are restrictions on it (we can't be guaranteed seats, since full price customers are higher priority).
So, yesterday we decided that we're flying to Sweden tomorrow (first class!), visiting family at my uncle's lake house for Christmas, then spending a couple days in Stockholm and finally stopping in London for New Year's Eve on our way back to the US.
We can only take seats that regular customers haven't bought. And it turns out all the coach seats were taken :dang: So we couldn't even fly coach if we wanted to.
Well, maybe we could trade seats with someone in coach. But I'm just going to assume that's not allowed...
Anyway, we're paying only a fraction of the regular ticket price, significantly less than even a regular coach ticket would cost.
We went to Las Vegas for 4 days and 3 nights to celebrate 5 years of marriage. A lot of fun people came like my mom and her boyfriend and a couple of other old family friends, and some internet people and their partners, and bey's nephew and cousin. We had a shitload of fun and then we brought the nephew back with us for Christmas.
I had to "work" yesterday, and they came and visited me for lunch and got the tour and then I took off early. I have the rest of the week off and we're going to my cousin's for dinner tomorrow so we don't have to cook shit. The nephew is 18 so we did our Christmas shopping at the ATM. Easy peasy.
I am cleaning house to the dulcet sounds of like Johnny Rotten and Mike Muir, and Kiddo hates my music and is all old man "Turn that noise down!". He's a bummer little dude sometimes.

This made me think of a recent episode of Forever. The main protagonist, Henry (played by Ifans) is man who has some form of immortality. He's a couple hundred years old - just so you understand. In today's present he's living with his aged adopted son (played by Judd Hirsch). The son is listening to jazz music and Henry shouts at him to stop playing that nonsense. It's kinda adorable.
im happy to say a good friend of mine passed from heart attack some time early Christmas morning at an all inclusive resort some where in mexico. between the pain killers and alcohol, I guess he tore it up a little to hard Christmas eve, a hard partying rig pig to the end
He was recently diagnose with pancreatic cancer in an advanced stage, so all he had to look forward to this this year was slow painful death delayed by chemo. he leaves behind no spouse, living family or children. just a long trail of pissed off girls and a few friends holding up a drink in his name... cheers bud
Off on my fist ever cruise today. We fly in an hour. Wifi charges on the cruise are exorbitant so I will be incommunicado until after the 1st. Will report back then.

So the trip to Sweden was fun. I might post more pictures of Stockholm and such if anyone is interested.
Here are two pictures for now:
This was the view from the driveway of my uncle's country house (near Lake Vättern) the morning we went back to Stockholm. We spent most of the trip there, with no mobile data and no internet in the house either.
And here's a night view of Vasabron (the Vasa bridge) and the Stadshuset (Stockholm city hall)
jan 1 2015.....feels like the day my life ended. the sharp as a nail mind of my wife has been suddenly lost in to the madness that comes with post partum psychosis. she turned on the stove gas and gassed up the whole house before going in to a panic attack and calling 911 then waking us all up from our afternoon nap to get out of the house.
where all ok physically, but the past 6 days feel like nightmare I cant wake up from. I'm just exhausted and overwhelmed, don't know what the fuck to do. 5 childeren under the age of 5 was crazy hard before this happened
