In a telephone interview on Tuesday, he was asked if he was the man in the photographs. “Who knows?” he answered.

How awesome is that? I'm really starting to love this guy. I hope he's not a fascist.

Apparently the word is related to Doge, the Venetian leaders' title.

The futurists strike again, this time with a half a million balls bouncing down the Spanish Steps.

This time Graziano Cecchini had the help of 20 students, several trucks, 10 giant bags full of 50,000 balls each and 2 sponsors (he needed 25,000 euros to pull this one off). His aim: "a demonstrative action to respond with the joy of colors to the sadness of an Italy submerged in refuse."

I don't think so, no. The refuse imagery was just a convenient point of reference. I imagine the motivation is the same as the ones articulated in the Trevi manifesto.

On a brighter note, you can see the hotel we stayed at in that photo! our balcony was overlooking the Spanish Steps.

Is it also true that in Italy when walking or riding past royalty, the rule was that the nobles always remain to the right? Because I heard you were supposed to pass the duce on the left hand-side.
