I don't understand why getting the firetruck unstuck was so difficult? Couldn't they just yoke an extra pair of oxen to the cart....uh, I mean firetruck.

What did they tell the passengers on the diverted flights? "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the Captain speaking, we are diverting the airplane to another airport due to an international emergency involving a firetruck, a wild boar, and some mud.
