Someone brought in five semi-feral kittens today so I got to experience a few minutes of the cuteness Brimshack mentioned in the OP :pleased:

My gush tonight involves :dollah:.

I asked for a raise a couple weeks ago and was told that I could expect something but didn't find out exactly what it would be until tonight just before leaving work.

I got a 10% raise!

It's a wonderful thing isn't it?

We're up to our eyeballs in kittens now, some of them feral. We have one managed to puncture the skin of the person brought it in, just enough to become a bite case. She was mean for about 3 days, docile for about 4 more, and she's just now beginning to pur when you pick her up. We're still gong to put her up for adoption, just require some extra paperwork.

...might grab her myself, not that I need another cat.

Okay, but can we make up stories as long as they're good?

I'm thinking something about shrapnel wounds from the time you saved a kid from the pitbull in the middle of a fire fight while defending 3 children and an embedded reporter...

My favorite story is when I was injured "in the line of duty" while "evacuating civilians" during a "hurricane". That's what it says on the official report.

Off the record: It was a Cat 1 hurricane that had been downgraded to a tropical storm. The hotel we were in was a little bit flooded, and the marble floors were wet. I was running through the lobby (in flip flops) to Jeff (the civilian)'s rental car carrying my suitcase, when I slipped, fell, and broke my elbow.

No, that's not what my claim is for. The claim is way more boring.

Wow. Gross.

Seriously, you guys, it's a laundry list of general health niggles that most people my age have, and they're minor but they add up to a nice monthly stipend. Rhinitis, tendinitis, tinnitus, a whole bunch of boring -ituses that I didn't want to get into in the

GUSH BABBLE AND GLOW HAPPILY

thread.

Tinitis? From when the bomb blasts went off right nearby.

...as you were escorting the civilians to a shelter in the middle of a category 6 hurricane.

...that ocurred during an earthquake.

...in the middle of an outbreak of the Cholera.

No need to get testy, I was just kidding.

I gots me some tinnitus myself. If I could get paid for it, I'd be gushing, blabbling, and glowing about it.

Maybe not, it's a real pain in the ass ... er, ear.

Anyway, I honestly think the onset of the tinnitus occurred during one of the long holiday weekends when I was boating with LadyShea and family. I'm sure it was due to a lifetime of swim meets and chronic ear infections, but it's fun to think I got another tropical-paradise-related injury that the government is paying me off for. I just know how to milk the system is all.

I remembe when my tinitus first set in. Pretty sure it's due to loud noise. Used to shoot a lot when I was a kid, without ear protection until I joined a rifle club at 14. But soon after that I discovered Black Sabbath. So, anyway, massive tinitus set in along with partial deafness in my left ear. It happened when I was 21.

For awhile I honestly never thought I'd get another good night's sleep again. I also remember that when people would call to me I couldn't orient to them based on sound for a few years. If they were to my left, I would turn to my right to see who had called. It was freaking wierd.

...But I'm used to it now, so it's all good.

Heh! I just derailed my own thread. How's that for something to glow about?!?

Me too. It scared the shit out of me. LadyShea and I were waiting in line to buy lemonade at the outlet mall and I heard a loud pop and then ringing and I absolutely could not hear what she was saying. It was like a scene from Saving Private Ryan or something. I thought I had gone deaf permanently. I'd never heard of tinnitus before that.

I know what you mean about orientation, though. One time I was watching Heroes and someone off-camera unsheathed a sword (you know, that *schwing!* noise), and I thought it came from over my right shoulder, instead of the TV, which was right in front of me and does not have surround sound. Also since the sword was off camera, I had no frame of reference of what the noise represented, just that it was BEHIND ME! Freaked me the fuck out.

Derail? What's that?

I finally got a good night's sleep after two weeks of crappy or no sleep and I feel fantastic. It's only 8:30 in the morning and I have already cleaned the kitchen, made a nice breakfast, done some laundry and baked a loaf of banana bread. :cheerful:

I have a super friendly kitten rolling around on my desk, making it very difficult to type. I don't know what I did but she was really mad at me yesterday, but I guess we're friends again. :purr:

Well, it sorta makes me smile that my Piss/Moan thread is one of Brimshack's favorites. (MY thread! Me! ME! I'm SOMEBODY!!!11!!)

But also because my manipulative little 4-year-old Drama Queen said to me on Saturday, "I love spending time with you, Daddy." Sure, I know she's just buttering me up for the next IWantThatDaddyCanIHaveItPleasePleasePleeeeeease, but I'm gonna glow happily over it anyway.

Enjoy those years while you can, puppet.

It was only "yesterday" my soon to be 20 year old "drama queen" was sucking up to me......

They do grow up too quick.... :sigh:

BUT never grow out of that "buttering up" and "sucking" up mode...

Which, I can honestly say I don't mind.

Now, the only time I see my "little princess" is when she's wanting money...

To balance some things out in terms of personal news, kitty and I played last night for a good 35 to 40 minutes. She even play-boxed (and I know it was play-boxing because I didn't get chomped at). We hung out, and for awhile I was able to shut out all the noise of things needing to be done, problems, etc.

Much contentment. :)
